Just stole 113t of cargo from an NPC T9.

And didn't collect a single tonne. I stopped a T9 NPC in Eleu, hauling 113t of medicines to help aid in the local epidemic. He ran, and boosted, and just as he did, I blew his drives out. He was left flying at 170 m/s without any spin, so I used Hatch Breakers to extract 113t of cargo. The process was very slow, and I didn't stop to collect any cargo, as the cargo was strewn over at least 35 Km. I enjoyed getting every last drop, as I am a dreaded pirate of the space lanes, but I wish I could've actually taken it.

Here's to a Hatch Breaker upgrade, and better drive mechanics! Drink!

So you didn't actually pirate him, you just ganked him????
.
Hope you only play in Solo lol

It was an NPC, and ganking is killing. Once I steal cargo, it's up to me what to do with it. It's my choice whether I want to sell it, discard it, or roll around in it, as if it were a pool.

You didn't actually steal anything, so it was not piracy (by definition). It was privateering which is the lowest form of life. No honour.
Use collectors to get the cargo. Doh!

I'll drink to that too :)

So you didn't collect it because you couldn't be bothered or did the cargo disappear due to being thrown over such a long distance?

Is this thread technically baiting?

At any rate, it makes me very, very, very happy. I want to do this to every CMDR I come across (especially traders who I completely outclass), and I won't even bring much of a cargo hold. They can emergency repair and pick their stuff back up for all I care.

All things are great. But the greatest is not credits, power, or reputation - it's legacy.

I feel your pain, limpets are really useless, shooting the drives out on ships is pretty bad as well. It's only useful against players who try to flee.

That said, one time I managed to get lucky and kill an npc type 9s drives while it was barely moving. Too bad it was only carrying a mid range cargo, 4k a ton I think. I managed to follow behind it scooping and play catch up when it got too far away. All in all I stole 80 tons. Best haul from an npc ever. I've never been able to replicate it however. We need harpoon and cables, ala star wars: empire strikes back.
