Anyone tried mining in a type 6?

I'm looking to mine, I've had an ASP just recently, I've got 10M CR to spare to put into a mining ship, I've got my 25M CR Vulture, but I'd rather have another ship for the mining, what about the DB Explorer whats the capacity for cargo? Hence the reason to ask about a type 6.

It's not a awful. I prefer the Asp, actually, since you can fit a class 5 collection controller and twin C2 mining lasers, which basically turns roids to dust.

The major disadvantage of the type 6 is being limited to c1 beams.

Total cargo capacity is less important than faster mining, to a point.

Also it's important to consider that outfitting a ship for mining is dirt cheap. Like, really. The only remotely expensive component is the refinery. So a fully optimized mining asp is well within your budget.

Thanks for the input :)

Good mining ships are those with lots of module slots, can take 2 size 2 mining lasers and decent cargo room. Decent mining ships include (but might be missing a couple) the Cobra, Asp, Orca, Clipper, Python, and Anaconda. I wouldn't like to try a Type 9 there as its probably hard to avoid bumping into rocks.

If you plan on mining close to RES (within 20km), it has to be capable of defending itself, but then you will spend more time fighting than mining and you will be losing collector drones left, right, and center as they explode while you are doing combat manouvers.

Oh, and if you can, get the refinery with 10 bins, it will save you some headache. And up to 10 collector limpts on the go at once and you can strip a rock very quickly. I had 8 with my Python.

Tried it in a T6 back before collector drones.

I'd stick with the ASP, just because of the internals. Cargo is large enough to spend a good few hours in a pristine belt-- and you can still pack enough weaponry to defend yourself.
Which is pretty much essential now-- in the last patch I just dropped out into a planetary ring and never saw another player or NPC until I left it.
Now though? It's still rare, but there are contacts now and then. Most of the time they never find me, but just on the off chance. Ran it with 2 fixed burst and 2 gimb burst, with C2 mining lasers. Worked a charm.

I've done it, it works OK. An Asp would probably be a better but I explore in an Asp and like to fly a bunch of different ships.

The biggest problem is that with only two small hardpoints you don't have any room for proper guns, so you have to run in the face of any threat at all.
