1.2, 1.3, 1.4 all greared toward the pew pew crowd

No, I refer you to Steve50's post. If you have issues with the man, take it up with him. Leave me out of it. And don't use me as a soapbox, thank you very much.

Don't get your knickers in a twist. You referred to edgar's post as condescending. I made the point in response to you that there is a great deal of condescension aimed at 'the pewpew crowd' on this forum, which might explain edgar's tone. Steve50 then posted a particularly clear example of this, to which I pointed you. Calm down dear, it's only an internet argument ;)

They also 'fixed' the selling screen, turning it from very close to unusable (without the 'sell a page') to now just being close to unusable. The thing I most dread about returning from exploring is sitting there for hour after hour selling the data.
Apparently it is now quick to sell data and can be done at 100s of systems per minute.

Well the game is based around combat, things like trade etc.. are there to help advocate combat or conflict.

The game really isn't based around combat and was never intended to be. Combat is just one aspect. Frontier, and Braben in particular, made a lot of noise about the size of the galaxy and how wonderful it was to be able to inhabit and explore a 1:1 representation of The Milky Way. They then ditched exploration with shoddy 'placeholder' click and point mechanics and did very little to further develop it. Same applies to various other aspects of Elite. Combat only seems to be the raison d'etre because so little effort has gone into other mechanics.

My knickers are of the untwisted variety. And I don't think I was overly dramatic in my reply.

We aren't having an argument, that is my whole point. I indeed referred to edgar's post as condescending. And it was. And it was misplaced condescension at triple word value. There endeth my participation. You're welcome to make any point you wish, I'm just requesting to leave me out of it.

I hope we're green Snooglebums.

*Sigh* I'd suggest not posting if you get touchy when people use your posts, and point, as a means to make a further point. If you feel soapboxed that's a shame for you. Substitute 'argument' for 'debate' or 'discussion' and you might also feel better. One can 'argue a point' without it being all shouty and full of angst, no?

I think it's interesting how you attribute characteristics like touchy, shouty, full of angst, twisty knickers and a need to cool down to me while I have simply been polite in all my responses.

Everything points to combat or conflict, yeah sure combat can be rare in the galaxy if you want it to be, but never the less, it all points towards combat and conflict in some way, even handing in your exploration tickets. :D

Even DB said : "The trading was seen as a way of validating the combat, really."

Erm, Id just like to point out that a few pages ago you quoted me and Ziggy in the same post but seem to have left Ziggies name out so it appears that i said all of it, which I didn't. I may agree with it but my nurse assures me that my memory isn't that bad yet! XD

Remove the rest of the galaxy? You want small space go play freelancer Mr. Evil! Those of us that like to explore do exist.

Pew-Pew just about combat.... So what do mining lasers do...?

It is a simulator. It's just one not appealing to you.

I thought the forum was quiet of white knights, were you on holidays Pecisk?

It's not a simulator in the form of an economy, it is a game mechanic which allows profit from trading without too much. While imagination land allows us to feel like it's an economy with actual supply and demand, production and consumption, it is not.

If that's the right thing for gameplay then that's fine, but don't label it as anything more.

Can't rep you any more buddy but I totally agree with your thinking on this.

1.2 I was hoping for a fix to the missions and background sim...we got wings...
1.3 I was hoping for a fix to the missions and background sim...we got Powerplay...
1.4 I was hoping for a fix to the missions and background sim...we are getting CQC...

Whilst I appreciate FD are not here for me, they do seem to have a huge leaning toward the pew pew crowd.
When is the background sim going to be fixed?
When are we going to get something to address exploring?
When is mining going to become a viable option?
When is trading going to be fixed? its about as dynamic as an ant carrying several bags of heavy shopping who happens to be asthmatic.
When are faction ranks actually going to mean something?

Whilst I realise that FD needs an income from new players, they should not forget their core supporters. The pew pew crowd will come and go, but we will still be here in a years time. Spread the love FD.

I don't think 1.4 is CQC, but instead the thing that fd will announce at Gamescon. At Lavecon, FD said that they have a 10 year plan, and nothing is considered finished yet. So be patient :)

Ten years.. bloody hell. :/ I'm likely going to be dead before this game is finished. QQ

Did they profer any details as to what we can expect year by year ?

Not to mention all the new games released on new technology and more power gaming systems by then. But we can still play Elite Dangerous in a small 4K window on our Windows 10 emulators.

Don't worry... They're working on the Background Sim in parallel and their Dev Team is bigger than ever.

99.9% of that development goes into the Arcade Shooter.
0.1% of it goes into the Background Sim together with all other game elements and bugfixing.

At the current pace, the scripted Background Sim will be fixed from the most pressing issues in V2.1 (~Dec 2016), and we'll see it transform into a full, logical and conclusive Sandbox in V4.0 (estimated to hit somewhere in the ~2022-2025 timeframe)

Too optimistic. :)
