Does anybody know where I can go in Alliance space to make maximum use of all this tonnage I have available?

ahem, you mean indentured servitude. (meanwhile the illegal slave trade flourishes in federation and alliance space)
or if youre really deadset, you could trade in Space Khaleesi's systems (thats Aisling Duval), shes some upstart imperial princes deadset on eradicating the imperial slavery (indentured servitude) system and as so, have outlawed it in her systems

Without slavery, there's no point in trading in empire space. It's their number one trade good. Considering most things written about the Empire by the Empire can be shown to be propaganda, it's best to put "indentured servitude" in quotes.

I've always wondered exactly how an economy where everything is still done with forced human labor (clones or slaves) is able to compete with the Federation where everything is made by AI's and robots.

As for an Alliance trade route, those are hard to find since the Alliance owns so few planets. Caraceni to LHS 2687?

From what i can tell, both the federation and the empire are equally rotten in different ways. I admire the empire because they don't try to hide it. The empire is ruled by nobility whereas the federation is ruled by corporations. The empire uses imperial slaves who sign themselves into servitude while the corporation employs slaves by ways of exorbitant loans and taxes. The alliance is arguably the only decent faction out there in terms of morality but i admire the empire for not sweeping slavery under the carpet like the federation does. Black market for slaves are always open, the empire mitigates it by regulating imperial slaves while the federation does precisely nothing other than condemning it on the galnet.
