How do people afford anacondas?

Am i missing something guys? Right now im just about 35 hours of gameplay in Elite. Bought myself a Type 6 and a Viper with decent upgrades. My best way to earn credits is usually going to Ngaliba 4 low conflict zone. Im joining Confederation of Ngaliba and when we have upper hand, it is easy to grind money there. My top score is 1.5 million credits for one and a half hour there. After that i bought a Type 6 and found a trade route in Sopontet to some other place. That one makes 200k profit per 10 minutes with 104 cargo hold. But still, when you check out the good ships they worth +15 million at the cheapest. How people make money? At this rate i must grind same trade route for the next 30 hours of gameplay. Just to buy a Type 7 maybe? I dont know much about the powerplay. Does the missions in that gives good moeny or something?

Thank you.

While Quineloe is right, getting enough cash together to enjoy the game the way you want to varies fropm player to player.

My advice - save for a Vulture - this can easily be upgraded as you build cash from High Intensity RES sites. You can earn about 3mil/hour.

Then on to Python, and eventually to Anaconda. I kept all my ships from Vulture and up.

Trading.
Trading some more.
Some shooting / CG's.

Technically:
Selling Python to buy a T9
Trading for a week in the T9
Selling T9 to get the Anaconda.

Trading scales the best, so do that.

Find one trading CG and hammer it to top 5% if you can. Credits will flow. Then take a massive break from the game to recover, then repeat.

I bought an ASP full cargo specs and made a lot of rare routes.
Later, bought a Type-7, full cargo again and looked for routes with a profit between 2500-3100 Cr per ton.
When I got enough credits I bought a Python and the same thing.
Recently I bought my space cow (a Type-9) and I'm currently obtaining about 1.2 - 1.5 M Cr per trip (And two or three rounds per hour). In a couple of days I've earned almost for a stock Python.

I supose that's the fastest trader way to an Anaconda :)

When I get bored, I pick my Vulture and go to a combat zone or res or hunting missions.
Ah, and as Quineloe said you can do Commnity Goals. I made only one trip with my T9 full loaded and earned 1.500.000.

Sidewinder-cobra-t6-asp-t7 (mistake) - clipper-python-t9 (another mistake) - python-fdl-Anaconda......that was my path.

It was a very twisted path, and involved trading, rares, bounty hunting, cg's and now PowerPlay. I don't know for certain but I believe I have more than 600 hours in that path.

Inefficient? Maybe, but it has been great fun. I understand some people want to Max quickly. (My ship hoarding habit did not help)

Not for me. Elite is like that.

Fair winds

Edit....also have to say the Anaconda was never na end game goal. Just somewhere I ended up. Currently parked, and using the python and FDL.

Of course not everyone, some people have taken things easy and still got one. I've got over 500 hours logged and still cannot afford the basic hull, never mind an upgraded one.

If you've done that well in 35 hours, what are you upset about? Luckily I don't know how many hours I've spent, but realistic is 800-1000 hours. It should take a while to get all the ships imho.

I'm afraid previous posters are right, fastest way to the anaconda is trade.
Nothing else makes credits as fast and when you get your anaconda, nothing makes credits as fast as the anaconda

You said you can now make 1.5Mcr per hour... do that for 100 hours, simples.

Took me 4 months to get my Conda and I am still trying to improve the equipment on it :) There is no magic formula. People will talk about mythical 12 or 15Mcr per hour trade routes. If you find one, good luck.

As others have said, if you need to have the Conda, you need to work smart and plan ahead. Don't get caught out buying a stepping stone ship and then finding the cost of outfitting means you either have to fly without insurance, or the FSD will not make the jump distance on your favoured trading route, etc.

BOunty-Hunting at res, BB smuggling missions, trding, rares trading, and the most profitable CGs of all types except combat zone CGs. Bounty-hunting CGs and trading CGs are the best, as you get the profit from bounties / trading and the CG reward. Whn multiple CGs are available, try to squeez into top 40% in more than one and credits will flow.

But don't expect to have hundreds of millions of credits in just a few weeks though, a lot of stuff can go wrong along the way and set you back a little.

The fact that you're Deadly in this forum and have time to find Youtube videos like this explains your missing funds for an Anaconda despite the logged hours rather well. :)
