Picking stars

Being out in the black really brings out the stars! I just wish that while you are looking out of your canopy that when you see something that is interesting that you could just click on it/select it and the route would be plotted for you. As an example, I am out right now and have been slowly coming up on what I thought was a bright white star but the closer I get to it, I realize it is actually something else! It is either a nebula that is white-ish or an open cluster of some sort. It would be nice to select it and have the route plotted for me!

If I remember right you could do that in FE II but how they could work it into ED I'm don't know. In FE II you had to hold down the right mouse button to lock the mouse for moving your ship. When released your mouse could be used to select targets. Of course I could be remembering wrong as it has been a loong time since I played that game.

That's usually NGC 7822 :)

The best available option is to select the systems that are available in the left hand panel to get a rough direction, then follow that direction in the GalMap until you find a likely candidate. Select it and exit the GalMap to see if that's it. It's neither perfect nor ideal but it's the best we've got at the minute. Something better would be nice, but adding that level of functionality to the Sky Box might lead to each trip through witch space taking several minutes...

Well, at least now I know I am headed in the right direction! NGC 7822 is one of my destinations in my tour =)

Plenty of BH and Neutrons :) pity they were all claimed but still worth the visit :)

Wait, neutrons, too? I darted through 7822 on my way back last time and found plenty of black holes but no neutrons. I'm sure I'll be back through there again at some point, though.

I can't honestly say I recall seeing a significant number of neutron stars in the Class B belt of stars. That does not mean there arn't any it could easily be I failed to remember them with the high number of black holes.

At work atm but my OCD is gonna make me check the ones I visited when I get home. Will let you know.

Edit: Appologies as the string of bright stars are class O not B, however I found no evidence of any Neutron stars withing that group, this does not mean there are none near there, just not in those particular systems.

Good Luck with your flight and may the stars be kind.
