Im a peacefull guy, i wont attack, you dont have to jump on sight. lol.

I've only seen 3 or 4 CMDR's while zipping about Imperial space. I logged in tonight and immediately after launching from Naubakht Port in the Kataning system, I saw the human ship icon on my radar. I came about and watched the individual dock. For whatever reason I felt like being a little cheeky, and I thought to myself how humorous it would be if I docked, checked the BB, and then noticed a ship staring me down when my cockpit view comes back up. As you can see in the pictures, I did just this to the other CMDR :D. I messaged "Hello CMDR!" through comms and didn't receive a response, so I patiently waited for some reaction. Finally, after about 7 minutes, the landing pad started to drop down into the station. I realized that I forgot the pads drop and rotate 180 degrees when you launch. I quickly applied some throttle and repositioned my ship back in front. I slowly pitched to reorient my cockpit to face the CMDR head on, and for a few moments they didn't move. They were released from the clamps and stayed still. Finally, I decided to show my peaceful intentions and I rolled back and forth to "wave" with my wings. The CMDR reciprocated and then I slowly lifted up and away! If you're out there CMDR Vurp, this is FlutieFlakes, and it was a pleasure to see another human. PS: I'm very curious to know what was going through their mind when I pulled my stunt :p

That would be nice indeed..

Features that might be added later.

My best guess is that Frontier is totally focussing on adding more content at the moment.

I read somewhere that they do plan to incorporate all the usual XBL voice chat features into the game before final release. Not sure if we will get this in the next build or not of course. I won't be using my headset until the PRIVATE PARTY option is working so I can finally get some of my friends onto the game and get a chance to fly together.

This whole TEXT chat thing may be all well and good for the PC version (although I still find it antiquated as hell), that doesn't fly on the XB1! We don't have a decent keyboard for one thing, and I am not about to attempt to type out a message using my controller in the middle of a combat encounter! lol! ;)

Well a keyboard will work if you plug it in the Xbox, but for some reason hiting enter send's the message & open's the Xbox's on screen keyboard. I tested it on day one, but haven't used it since because of that issue.

I read about the same bug, and so I didn't even bother plugging in my USB keyboard. Thats what I meant actually.... Sorry I wasn't more specific.

I've got a real nice one that lights up in the dark with a cool BLUE backlight, so I can use it in the dark with a game like this. :) Will need to invest in a nice long USB extension cable though if I want to plug it into the XB1.

When playing this game i have my own Coms Panel next to me. lol. Im using smartglass on my Ultrabook for typing. It does an amazing job.

Yesterday i witnessed a, i think a new CMDR docking in Abe Lincoln. "New" because was he/she was docking like i did in the first few days. "left, right, throttle up, in reverse, right, left, up, down, agian up, left, reverse, throttle up, kissed the tower, reverse, down, up, little bit left, down. * Docking succesful*

I had to laugh a bit.. Also told him "Nice docking" Didn't got a response.

If you are there, We've all bin there.. It will get better over time.. haha.

Using a USB keyboard for Comms isn't so bad... while it's a bit annoying that the on screen keyboard pops up after you hit Enter... it's no big deal... just tap B on your controller & it's gone again. B^)

There are the messages, the voice chat is going to be put in here with a future update. Communication is a little difficult at the moment!

Where u hang out dusty ill come for a chat, most people never respond to local.

That's an understatement, so far I've managed to type "Boo" into local chat and by the time I had penned that literary masterpiece my fellow space jockey was long gone I think.

Smart glass is wonderful, but I don't always have my phone or my computer near me. Most of the time it's charging, or something. When I do get something out it's usually something to confirm that me and the other player are "cool", but by the time I type it out, if we weren't "cool" I would have been wasted, but it's cool for now, they are working on it and I'm patient. I'm just gonna start sending party invites when I see someone.

Could you describe how you use Smartglass please DustyArne? In relation to game context I mean.

If you have Smartglass open and connected anytime you go into type something (Coms/navigation) it should automatically pop up a keyboard for you to type on. I use it on my phone when I am looking up navigation points. It is pretty handy. I have only tried it on my phone, but I am sure it works the same on a computer...and probably easier.

If you have Smartglass running when the virtual keyboard pops up on the screen you can use that to type your messages out instead of using your controller to find the letter on your screen.

I find it especially useful on my phone where keyboard swipe allows me to quickly type out messages that would take ages for me to do using the Xbox virtual keyboard on the TV screen.

Do they have a Mac version of that? I have never looked. I'm on a Macbook Pro with OSX Yosemite.

You know, I do know that they have an iOS version of Smartglass, not sure about Mac version.
