The Value of a Sagittarius A* scan.

So me and my Boyfriend have spent the last week getting to the Centre of the Galaxy and back again, due to everyone bragging about this scan being worth 139 million Cr. So we get back and sell it, and it's not worth anything near 139 million, but rather 600 thousand. So my question to the team is, has a Sagittarius A* scan be devalued, is this a bug, or those claiming it is 139 million a bunch of trolls?

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain that exploration data is valued by the quantity you've gathered, not the distance or location.

Sure, you get more depending on the quality of the data.. But people getting huge pay days like what you're talking about for exploring go out for weeks if not months at a time and fully scan several thousand star systems.

If players have been there before you i.e. your not the first to discover it then the value will be no where near the mills that some players were suggesting.

Having never been there myself I have no real way to judge but rule of thumb is if you ate first to scan/discover then you get the lions share of payment.

This is how exploration data is broken down:

The value of exploration data depends on several factors:

  • The nature of the celestial object. The most valuable exploration data is on Earth-like planets and on Water Worlds that are candidates for terraforming. The least is on small, rocky and/or icy planets.
  • The mass of the celestial object. Heavier objects are somewhat more valuable than ligher objects of the same class.
  • The quality of the data. You get some value simply for locating the object with the Discovery Scanner.Scanning it increases this value significantly. Scanning it while your ship has a Detailed Surface Scanner doubles the value of the data you acquire.
  • A further 50% bonus if you are the first commander to scan the celestial object with a Detailed Surface Scanner. Additionally, you get your commander name against the object as the "First Discoverer" in the System Map screen.

I don't know but the things I was told about it seem pretty accurate that all these people got 139 million for the scan of Sagittarius A* and around 20 million Cr for the 2500 systems visited and scanned throughout the journey. Now I never got the 139 million for the Scan but I did get the 20 million for the 2500+ systems visited and scanned.

We were both severely disappointed when we got back but I thought I'd ask on here to see if it's a bug, a lie, or been devalued. Just to well, know. lol

Oh I know that but I was lead to believe that the 139 million Cr was without the Discovery Bonus, though I would have thought something with 516,000+ solar masses would have been worth more than 600k XD

Wow that's a lot of deniro.

Hey, is the bonus worth it to get a complete system scan of all bodies? I'm just trying to work out what is more profitable and efficient. i.e. Is it really worth scanning a system of 25 ice cubes or should I only bother if its more like 8 or if I can see metals or earth likes in the initial Honk?

I tend to not bother with the little ice/rocky planets. I mainly go for the gas giants, high metal content, metal rich, water worlds, ammonia worlds, terraformable worlds, earth like planets etc. I've learned to tell from the image in the system map which planets are likely which, so if you can tell I'd suggest just going for them. ( I don't know if there is a bonus for the entire system, someone else would have to tell you that. :p )

Are you sure they didnt mean they got ~139 million for the trip?

You don't get 139 million for scanning one object unless bugs.

The values for scanned objects are listed.

There are no bonuses for entire system scans. The only bonus you will pull is a 1st discovery, which is applied to the scanned object.

Nope, they said they got 139 million for just the Scan of Sagittarius A*, and that they also got around 20 millions Cr for the scans of the 2500+ systems it took to get there and back. I got the 20 million for the 2500+ system scans like I was told but only 600k for the Sag A* scan.

Well, its difficult enough to just get there, you came back in one piece. Congrats. Furthest I've been out so far is 2,500LY out and back.
