Stealth Squad Testing: Shieldless Cobra PvP

Trying to find more and more ways to keep this game fresh and fun, stealth ships has been the latest. It also makes small ships extremely viable despite the failure for FD to fix armor

Turning and targeting in a Cobra is a bit of an art form. Side thrusters can make this ship as easy to target with as a DBS, even for the bottom two sh***y hardpoints. Also, why med pulse, and not two small beams? The beams do better damage for your jousting style and the heat isn't too bad. Then you can slot med missiles as well ;)

Also, can you PM me your armor build?

Those are actually medium burst, so tends to work very well for jousting and gettin in a lot of dps quick with a bit less heat than beams which is important since the silent Cobra has big issues.

The Cobra or DBS armor build? The Cobra build is in the front part of the video, may have to pause em. Either way I can do so lol

I prefer an all cannon/multicannon DBS for small ship stealth combat.

Still interesting to see different setups.

Check out my youtube page, its dedicated to only stealth combat ships...

When deploying hardpoints I turn off FSD, Fuel Scoop, Interdictor and Cargo Hatch to get power consumption and heat down.

I prefer military armor since it gives you 50/50 reduction, making it usefull against kinetics and laser, especially with no shields and no point defence I feel the need to get some kind of missile protection.

I will go with small gimballed beams but I am not sold on the medium hardpoints. Going with pulse atm to get shields down faster in conjunction with the beams but might as well go with multi-cannons.

It's not bad, but looks like a PvE Build, because of the gimbals. The Life support is also not sufficient, since there are high chance of your canopy blowing. I'd also replace the Fuel scoop for more armor. I like to dock to refuel, also a good Save-Point while en-rout.

NPC's aren't fool and can see and target you while in silent running. I'd replace 1 of the heat sinks for a chaff. Get 2x Class 2 Railguns and 2x Class 1 Torpedoes. You want to disable their drives quick with Torpedoes once their shield drops using the Rails.

I loved running a stealth Dbs with quad cannons. I still own a stealth cobra but that's weaponless (as well as shieldless) as it's for smuggling only.

Well, it shouldn't be a pure PVE build but of course the main focus is PVE. I have seen people using gimballs in PVP as well, if the target uses chaff, just untarget it. However, I have not tested it yet since I only got the idea from this thread and the video but now that you mentioned it I am curious: Can the NPCs indeed still target and see you? I know that you are not invisible and can be spotted visuallly but I thought once you are out of the NPCs field of view and of the radar and behind that you could pretty much "disappear". Is that not the case?

In my experience NPCs seem to be confused by silent running and have difficulty landing shots on you. However they can still visually see you and manually target you in the same way that players can. You need to do your best to stay behind them, if they're facing you the stealth advantage melts as fast as your canopy!

Another tip is only to attack lone targets as it's hard to stay out of sight from multiple targets.
