Python Explorer

I ultimately would like a python, but some of your pictures make it look shorter and stubbier than I imagined. I wonder what kind of sound it makes?
My Asp sounds like a biplane, but I'm surprised at how quickly it can get around the galaxy.
The Python is a rather long boat, so it's indeed tilted in many pictures to make it fit and not to hug all the screenspace :)

Sound is a rather civilised rumble, nothing like the Asp Roar :)

Currently out in the black with an Asp on a different account but I was always happy with the Python as an explorer.

How do you do that? (sorry, a bit off-topic) I just bought another copy of Steam ED "as a gift" and plan to install it on a guest account on my PC for my son (because I don't like the way he docks my ship, scratching all the paintwork and stuff...) but I don't know if that's the best way to do it... would be interested to hear how you have another account...

(again, sorry don't mean to hijack the thread - you can reply in a PM if you like)

Fair do's, can't say I'd like to go exploring my Python (as yet unnamed but likely to be harrier III if the cobra, harrier I, and asp, harrier II, are anything to go by) as it's all A-rated for RES stalking and imp slave shifting (208T).

Can't rep you any more bro, gotta share some love about first :(

I tried a python explorer pre 1.3, it was great from a functional point of view but very costly on maintainance. Hopefully that has been addressed now.

Your ship looks great Ziggy. Maybe it's the Traveller player in me coming out again, but the Python looks so perfect as an exploration ship.

I'll let you know what my wear and tear bill is :)
One thing I've been wondering is whether it's actually worth repairing wear and tear on exploration ships. I mean it'll be back down at 0% next time you return anyway. Does the 30% damage boost apply to module heat damage or just to hull damage in combat?

Landed last night, the wear and tear was 555k. And since the ol' girl has served me well, I'm happy to spend that on her. I have no idea what the effects are. I just know she deserves it.

More selfies coming up later. :)

And then I'm off to Lembava to purchase an ExplOrca.

I believe if your wear and tear is 100% then your hull has the equivalent strength of 75% of your ships original hull (so if your hull is 100%, that is 100% of the 75%). Tried to find the link to where it was explained but it's lost in volume of other posts...

That's my understanding as well, which is why I don't think it's actually worthwhile repairing wear and tear on a pure exploration ship - just leave it at 0%.

EDIT: Other than the roleplay of caring for the ol' girl obviously!

Unless you meet an alien race who are affronted by the lack of care you show - remember us explorers have an additional role of showing those alien races what we are like, and sometimes first impressions last :)

Ducky? NCIS reference? Here's some rep!
See OP. The Python to me looks like a duck-billed platypus, so the NCIS reference was an easy one to make :)

Anyway, sold me data and here the last couple of holiday pictures

The advantage of white paint is you can try on different colours without using outfitting

And finally ... there she is ... the reward for this trip

With this in mind my target is now an explorathon. I always loved my first one but when I clean saved I decided to focus heavily on exploration and the high w&t put me off. The actual repair costs are not unreasonable if I recall so I may just be running a 100% W&T bird to see how it fairs.
