Is it safe to work around Leesti and Lave?

I want to get allied with Alliance, and I've chosen Leesti as my first place to start doing missions.

Just wondering, how dangerous is it around that area? I did choose it because I know it's busy, and I welcome a little bit of pvp, but if I'm heading into a ground of Elite combat players with devastating experience, untouchable ships and lots of rage, that might be too much.

As I said, I'm happy for the occasional fair fight, and a chance to improve my skills, but if I'm going to be dying 3 times a session, then I'll just go solo...but I REALLY don't want to.

My ship: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70N,5TP7Px01Q0mI3hA3wo,306Q7_6Q5K7_6u5A,7Sk7go03w9ok2UI

Also, I am just Novice in combat. I've never had a proper fight with a player, and any time I've been interdicted I've tried to run and failed. I've done plenty of assassination and hunting missions and never come close to dying.

Thanks for the info guys

Leesti is a PvP hotspot. Nontheless I'd recommend to go on there, it's a good place to gain some PvP experience. Getting away if outmatched is one of the most valuable PvP skills to learn, and once you learned that, nobody will be able to kill you, even in Leesti. A Vulture can always get away with shields up, if you chose not to fight.

That ship loadout might suggest "bounty hunter" which tends to translate to "fair game".
If you want to be able to pick your fights in a busy pvp area you may want to fly something faster or hope a request for 1v1 is honoured.

Bad timing at the moment, CODE just decided to pack Powerplay in and return to that area, so there should be plenty of action going on around there for the time being.

I'll give it a go. Any tips on getting away? So far my theoretical strategy is:
1. Submit if escape is not looking good so FSD is cool quicker
2. Run immediately, boosting all the way.
3. Target another system as apparently the mass inhibition doesn't apply to that kind of jump (? yet to test)
4. While running, 4 pips in engine, 2 in system, constant stream of chaff and shield cells

But even though in theory, theory and practice are the same, in practice they are not

I normally would sit still and talk to my interdictor, but the days of them responding before opening fire seem to be long gone

I also try to avoid getting interdicted altogether by erratic flight path, overshooting my destination and even dropping out of SC before I can get interdicted (or jumping to another system). I've had success with that the two times I tried it, but that's not enough data to know how well it works

Yes I am aware of that. I prefer to fight my way to allied, so I'll be doing assasination and hunting missions all the way.

I have a good friend in CODE, and he even invited me to join. I'll see if I can get him to give me diplomatic immunity

If you want to stay in Open then going further out should be less risky.

If you always avoid risky situations you will never learn how to deal with them. Learn how to master such situations and you won't have to hide in deserted areas of space anymore. ED is very forgiving concerning PvP situations, almost always leaving a way to escape. Most serious 1v1s I fought (which are a lot) ended with one side successfully retreating. Being destroyed is very unlikely, IF you know when and how to turn tail.

Yes.

Nope... Turn around, face your enemy, boost past him, so he has to turn, then keep running. Will give you some time without getting fired upon und increase your distance, which will reduce weapon damage.

Correct.

4. While running, 4 pips in engine, 2 in system, constant stream of chaff and shield cells

If your shields are still up, 4 pips to SYS, 2 pips to engines. If they are down, 4 pips to engines.

Yes.

Ok cool, thanks for the tips. I also hear that FAOFF with constant rolling and vertical thrust makes me a harder target

By PVP experience, you mean getting used to being interdicted by a full wing and destroyed in five seconds?

I recently visited the old worlds to load up on rares and left untouched with cargo BUT, Leesti had 8 Cmdrs just hanging out trash talking to each other outside the starport, my advice, don't hang around sightseeing, if you see a hollow square watch it like a hawk, if it turns to a triangle then get the hell out of there :)

Yes, that's what I'm worried about.

Surely they won't attack me in the no fire zone?

If you want a wingman to potter about with, ping me a PM. I'm online most evenings.
CMDR Arc?

You can count on them attacking you in the NFZ if they think they can blow you up and still have enough time to get away.

In solo/group mode its 100% safe, in open, expect some danger, you may not see any danger, but prep for it!

I heard that a very fair and honorable contest is happening over there: 1v1 T9s battle!

Yes you heard me right: bring your T9 filled half with imperial slaves, and you will be invited for a fair battle with another T9.
As soon as you or your opponent's shield drops, the fire ceases and the winner gets the imperial slaves!

It's so much fun, must try! ;-)

LOL! Shame I don't have a T9 :)

Well I had my first interdiction, an FDL winged with a Python. Not staying around for that show! Using Quineloe's advice I made a very clean and easy escape. I jumped back to try again but he interdicted me at the star. Well seeing as it was an impossible fight, I've decided to stay low in Solo for the time being. I'll go back later, but great start to gaining some experience

Definitely no, I tried to enter Leesti two times in open play yesterday and go blown up by 3 guys (one of which is an imperial clipper I think) in my Viper. I get pvp, I used to be a pirate and big pvper in EVE but its absurd when three people sit at a star and just interdict even little (mostly harmless) ships jumping into system just to blow them up for fun. There is no challenge to it for the 3 of them and they gain nothing... this game needs some actual consequences for ganking like that. For now on in these systems I am in solo play!
