The Bounty Hunting & Bounties tips, and general discussion thread

Yeah totally agree, my bounty list has been getting really messy for some time, and for me just not in the spirit of the game to suicide clear it.

I think it'd be fair to suggest that since players consider killing themselves in order to throw away money (!), the mechanism could be improved. :D

It's been suggested again and again over the last year. I suggested a broker who you can submit your bounty to for a % fee.

Interesting that a Dev has for once responded regarding something like this.

how to kill a bounty hunter? with out getting a bounty on your head?

you don't?.

Edit: Assuming you're taking a mission which requires you to kill bounty hunters. Simply put, there's no way. It's like certain assassination missions. Kill your target, take the bounty, and move on.

Unless they are wanted or belong to a faction you are opposed to in powerplay then the only other way is to pay someone else to do it :)

Have a bounty on your head in a different jurisdiction. Wait for them to kill warrant scan you, open fire on you, then you kill them when they turn wanted.

they can't read every message, so sometime we may need to repeat things a bit to get their attention.

for example, while you are here: Sandro, can you put PP in the toredo list please ? :D

And if the OP suggestion can't be added soon™, can we have an "abandon" button at least ?

Hello Commander Voz!

I like this idea. A nice choice between putting in effort to maximize reward and paying a tithe for easier access. I can see some potential wrinkles we might want (not allowing Federally affiliated bounties being cashed in Empire-affiliated starports and the like).

Not something that we can right now unfortunately, but I'll certainly jot this down for when we get to add some more bounty hunter love.

It's much easier to find an alliance, federation, or empire station than it is to find "dirty John's hobo freedom". I can certainly deal with not being able to cash them in at opposing factions, as they're easier to find.

I'm sure when you are able to implement it it'll be done in a way that makes sense and is a godsend. :D

You should not be wanted in that system hence they should become wanted. Whether they do is another matter. If roles reversed and I would become wanted despitemy kws picking up bounty.

I absolutely agree with this. Even if we can't get a single broker for all the bounties, maybe it could work just under a single alignment. At the moment, the only extra bounties I turn in are Federation and Alliance ones. Flying 200Lys to get 400-5000Cr is a waste of time. However, I'd gladly give a percentage to a NPC broker/bounty-dealer/whatever you call it so I can get it at a station that has the same galactic alignment as the small faction that i have the bounty in.

Or just stick it under the black market :D

Why not allow it at the Founders World? Or at independant systems? That way you dont have to worry about cashing Fed bounties in the Empire...

If we are going to have this, it would make more sense to either make it available on almost all worlds, with the percentage offered scaling with distance to the nearest part of the jurisdiction in question. Put in a floor of 10% and a cap of 40% on the recovered value.

Can't believe you suggested those values! I put forward a formula for it on elitepve.com
=if(40-40*A2/100<10,10,40-40*A2/100)
.
(Where A2 is the listance in a straight line to the bounty system)

Hello Commanders!

Even a seemingly straightforward change like having the ability to abandon bounties takes time and resources to implement, test and deploy, so I'm afraid there's really no quick fix. But I do think it's a good idea and will champion it.

Also, much though I'd love to read and reply to every suggestion and query, I simply don't have time, so, apologies if I miss things, even if they have cropped up lots of times or seem "obvious" - it's not intentional.

To avoid the jurisdictional issues, make it so you can either fly to where the bounty was issued to cash it, or sell it on the black market (at a slight cost, obviously) to someone who'll cash it in themselves, with your credentials. Explain the change in-game as a rumoured black market money laundering service that's recently exploded in popularity due to the change that made minor factions always hand out bounties, instead of major factions. That way you can clear your transactions tab of any vestigial minor faction bounty vouchers at any station that hosts a black market. Major faction bounties have more detailed verification measures in place that would mean you still have to cash those in person, and hence why this money laundering scheme wasn't widespread before the change.
