Is it safe to work around Leesti and Lave?

By PVP experience, you mean getting used to being interdicted by a full wing and destroyed in five seconds?

Are you talking from experience or just conjecturing? If you spot a wing of 4, drop out of SC immediately (emergency dropout) and go somewhere else for the time being. Even though I'm activeley seeking out PvP hotspots, because I like PvP, large wings are rare. Only once did a wing of 4 CODE members manage to intercept me, and - surprise - they didn't destroy me in 5 seconds. Even a wing needs some time to gather all their members in the instance and arrange themselves for a concentrated attack... enough time to get out, unless you are flying a freighter.

i tried the same (gaining alliance reputation around leesti, lave, diso), and during evening times you'll get interdicted quite regularly. i'm quite good at running way now. but i'd recommend alioth region more. there i was able to restore my rep decay with alliance in about 1 hour, and earn the alitoh permit.

It's day time now and I'm doing pretty well. Apart from the FDL incident above, the skies are either clear, or I'm able to dock without getting chased too determinedly

Isn't Code supposed to interdict traders, ask for some cargo (somehow, a "tax"), and let people go if they comply?

The Lave cluster has been well known for piracy, and I like that...it gives some "mood / character" to the area which otherwise would feel like any other area in the game.
Not sure what is their behavior toward non trading ships though..?

Or do you guys mean that the majority of them has stopped doing piracy and turned psycho instead?

Well what I encountered wasnt piracy, never received a message or anything, they are just ganking people jumping into system irrespective of ship type.

Yes, they pirate. But if you look like a bounty hunter, then they will kill you, as I supposed pirates would do to their natural enemy.
Also, if you pirate, they will kill you as it's there turf.
So basically, anyone they see, they attack.

I think many groups have gone there atm for pvp and nostalgia, not just Code. Always going to be a few psychos in the mix.

So, you see? Better for bounty hunters to take their chance in a T9 filled with imperial slaves then ;)
OK, stopping to joke about that now :)

EDIT: QUOTED WRONG PLAYER. NOW FIXED

I want to get allied with Alliance, and I've chosen Leesti as my first place to start doing missions.

Just wondering, how dangerous is it around that area? I did choose it because I know it's busy, and I welcome a little bit of pvp, but if I'm heading into a ground of Elite combat players with devastating experience, untouchable ships and lots of rage, that might be too much.

As I said, I'm happy for the occasional fair fight, and a chance to improve my skills, but if I'm going to be dying 3 times a session, then I'll just go solo...but I REALLY don't want to.

My ship: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70N,5TP7Px01Q0mI3hA3wo,306Q7_6Q5K7_6u5A,7Sk7go03w9ok2UI

Also, I am just Novice in combat. I've never had a proper fight with a player, and any time I've been interdicted I've tried to run and failed. I've done plenty of assassination and hunting missions and never come close to dying.

Thanks for the info guys

May I make a suggestion O.P. on your ship load out?

IMO the point defense is unnecessary. Not many people run missiles and the extra 100ish MJS of shield strength will come in handy. I know in PvE it might be useful but in PvP not so much. Also, even though i don't personally use it, I know that double chaff is a very popular option, especially when you are out matched and/or trying to run. I can understand the KWS so keep that if your going to BH. With only carrying 1 SCB the B's will give you 1 extra shot, which overall, gives you more recharge than the A's. They also take less power and you are flying a power starved machine. On the subject of being power starved. You might find the C thrusters work fine because the Vulture is so maneuverable already the A's are a bit of overkill and they are very power hungry. Another trick you can use to squeeze out a little extra power is to buy the A life support and just set it to priority 5. When the hardpoints deploy you are on 25 min of reserve oxygen and most engagements don't last anywhere near that long. Just that trick alone would allow you to power B thrusters with the setup I recommend. Other tricks you can do is set your FSD to priority 5 as well. The downside to that is that you cannot activate FSD until hardpoints are 100% stowed which takes a couple extra seconds. Things to consider.

Now everyone has their own preferences and there is no "perfect" setup but these are just my opinions so take them with a grain of salt. I am sure others will have their opinions as well.

Good luck

Thanks, it gives me what to think about, I'll probably save the A5 thrusters for this area of space as I'll be doing a lot of running from commanders, but I love the life support idea. I'll think about the chaffs, point defense and B scbs, and experiment:)

There are easier ways to get allied with the Alliance. First get the Alioth permit, then do missions at Irkutsk Station. There are clues on how to get the permit in the Permits thread.

Other question: why bother, other than getting the discount on the ASP? Major faction reputation just decays now anyway and doesn't mean anything.

If you go anywhere near the Lave/Leesti sewer in Open, make sure to check your re-buy first. You may get lucky a few times due to instancing, but sooner or later you will be at the insurance screen.

The faction rep decays but not the ranks. Once you have top rank you have it..period.

I have the alioth permit, and I just want allied as I'm bored. I headed to leesti because of the action. I'm not leaving now that I know the odds. I'll play solo, learn in open, and just be chilled. Won't take long anyway

THe LAve cluster used to have a lot of player pirates, but most of them went away to Archon territory, so it's generally safe.

You'll be safe.
I tested out if i could run from interdictors in a shieldless hauler at 2 engine pips, escaped with 54% hull (And the interdictor was in an FDL!)
