The Bright Wheel - A player faction related to the Dark Wheel

Hi,

Anyone interested in creating a player faction along the lines of the Dark Wheel. Same goals, as closely connected as possible.

If you are just drop a few comments and ideas here and let's see where we can take this.

I'm happy to admin it. It would be down to the members to shape and direct it and play as they wish and contribute as much as they like.

Not messing around this time. It could be fun and become a power.

Meet up if anyone is interested. The ramblers rest pub in chislehurst London / Kent 7pm with a screening of Fight Club at 8pm 13august

Sounds good to me with a touch of smuggling, mining and exploration for good measure.

I'll update opening post with Dark Wheel lore etc.

And set-up a members forum.

We could just be Dark Wheel. I know I am (or will be when I get around to doing the sig graphic)
Independant Good Guys with a Dagger

I'm waiting to hear back from the developers regarding the Dark Wheel to get a definitive answer. If they want to reatain complete control of the Dark Wheel faction, I figured a player faction linked closely to the Dark Wheel.

A bit of skull duggery for sure. Fingers in every pie kind of thing?

Honestly, Ben, it sounds like something to get one's gnashers into. Did you have an idea for a home system already? Would prefer somewhere with locally picked fruit available but willing to squabble briefly and settle on a mined-out husk with only a string of letters and numbers to its name.
But to get a handle on your plan here: if the Dark Wheel is meta-plot with the inherent limitations as to what can and can't be done in the narrative, then the Bright Wheel is more playerbase adventurism as a backdrop for co-operative commandereering?

EDIT: Philanthropic pew-pew... Probably less fuel drones, more "Leave those refugees and traders alone, preferably by dying." But fuel drones might be an idea. ("Now you've got no excuse to not hoof off before I get really irate.")

nice idea! there's a few cool minor factions in the new colonies (CG Sirius corp colonies) we could back, how about backing the Deep Space Clan in Sothis or the Black Hand in one of the other systems, don't remember what the system is called will check when I get back from work

Philanthropic pew-pew? If that where you interdict them, drop their shields and then bombard them with fuel drones?

Or pushing some minor factions up? If so that might injure the smuggling half of the groups bottom line, no?

We'd support our own, use the right tols for whatever we set our minds on. Good old fashioned gold drops would be a thing :)

Something with a suitable name would be good. I found a system called Corrin a while back which was quite nice. Plenty of time to pick a place. Any suggestions?

Like a spin off series

We could all fly in Clippers and only trade and smuggle tea.

That is a very good cover story

Re: Corin (?) Just checked it on GalMap. Fair point on having plenty of time but that does indeed look a healthy bit-of-everything candidate.

Yup, plenty of stations and platforms. All easy to get to. Blackmarkets all over the place. Lots to fly around and see while running internal missions. Plenty of parking for all. And I think they sell tea at Fowler market It's an Empire bit of territory so tea clippers wouldnt look out of place at all.

Corin is an uncommon Latin name meaning 'spear'. The story of Corin descends from the Sabine name Quirinus, who was a legendary Roman god of war.

Don't like the name.

How about 'The Squeaky Wheel'?

I'm interested. Let's develop some specifics.

What do you look for in a home system?

Don't really know. A cool name?

I'll leave it with you guy's to come up with stuff. Like I said, I'm really happy to admin stuff but it'd down to people to come up with stuff together.

If there's more interest I'll build a web site unless there's some one more up to it.

Sounds intriguing! As long as it does not get called "Wheel of fortune", with the moto "come on down", you can count me in matey:)

Ben, all the best with creating the group, but I personally feel the name the Dark Wheel should be off the menu.

Its original Elite lore (that could one day be developed further) but regardless of that, I don't think its appropriate for a player group to take possession of something that is part of Elite's fabric and mystery.

Yup fair enough. So looking at something along the same lines. A bit like the rangers in Babylon 5 but seeking the Dark Wheel kind of thing.

Updated opening post with link to the original developer post.
