When is an Anaconda better than a Vulture?

Nothing else you can do with it comes close to what you can earn with trading.

Come again?

A Combat-Anaconda is good for 15 million credits an hour.

Tell you what, I'd rather shoot myself in the head......repeatedly.......than trade to the tune of 15mil/hour :D

You can get a half decent conda for PVE Res Farming for around 200m credits with a C rated power plant, A rated power distributer and frameshift drive and everything else around the D level except shields which can be around the C level. Stack on about 6 shield boosters and nothing is really going to get through unless you do something really stupid like take on 3 pythons... errrhummm....lol

Seriously tho, if you love your Vulture, try an FDL it will cost around 77m to get it A specd a bit more if you want the class 4PA. The FDL Its a lot more combat focused than the python and has awesome speed that can get you out of pretty much anything if things go bad. Yes I am biased towards the FDL, it flies a lot like the vulture (obviously not as maneuverable) and sounds freaking awesome, its like a sports car having unprotected sex with a tiger! but there is a lot of power management, just like in the vulture... . If you want to mix up some trading, then stick with the python, but thats going to cost you around 140-160m credits to get it up to full A spec, and is a lot slower than your used to.

I keep my conda for lazy RES farming and trading, and use my FDL for bounty hunting and fun. If your going to fly a FDL, make sure you manoeuvre with all pips to engines, and then when firing swap all pips to weapons. Dont put pips into shields unless your really low and need to make a retreat, but then only put 2 pips in there and everything else to engines.

Here are my builds.. the conda is a work in progress

I wouldn't bother with an Anaconda for combat. Mine just sits at a trading hub.

The Python has about 4/5s the firepower of an Anaconda but more speed, maneuverability, better hardpoint convergence, and it can land at outposts for re-arm, repair, and redeeming vouchers.

When I go pew pew I switch between the Python and FDL to keep things fresh. The Anaconda stays docked with 452T of cargo capacity.

Thanks. Frankly I can't stand the FDL, nothing in the game seems to turn like the vulture and to that end I might as well just fly a big slow ship with huge guns.

Ahhh, yes, I once thought as you did. Coming from the vulture to the FDL myself I was disappointed. BUT.. did you have a rated thrusters, and did you have full pips to engines? Cause I can promise you, these 2 factors make a HUGE difference to the FDL.. the stock drive is abysmal and not putting power into the engine is not using the engines to its fullest capacity..

If you can, give it another try. Otherwise, goodluck with the python!

I've really tried to go to war in a 'Conda, first at 172mil, then at 200mil, and recently with a pretty nice 284mil one. I thought it would be overkill but you know what? For me, the Python is still king for PvE. The conda feels powerful with all those guns and turrets, huge shields and many boosters, SCBs, defensive systems... it FEELS awesome, but in the real world, it's just the best trader in the game. The Python is faster, way more maneuverable, and it's not that far in the weaponry department. For solo PvE, you're a faster killer in the smaller ship.

15mil/hour? Seriously? I fly a combat conda and have never pulled anywhere near those figures, even with the 20% BH bonus. Please share the secrets to these riches? ;)

He did that already... Rank 5 with Arissa. It sure is viable for players with _plenty_ of play-time, but personally, if I had to grind to rank 5 every week, I wouldn't have any time left to actually make use of the bonus :)

Rank 5 Hudson bonus. I'm also pulling around those numbers in HICZ.

Takes about 4 hours to maintain rating 5. Rest of my time is spent making things go boooom :)

How on earth do you maintain the bonus in four hours with the massive merit decay in place?

In addition to my Warhammer (Combat-Conda) I also have a trading Anaconda that I buy merits for and convey them to systems that need fortification. Depending on when I start I can get it done quickly enough. Usually just takes 5000 merits so you're looking at about 12 trips or thereabouts in the Trade-Conda. 3-4 trips an hour depending on distance and you're done.

Yep that 50 million credit bonus for rank 5 is normally spent on keeping rank 5. The rest of the week is a big turkey shoot where you make a ton or profit even throwing that 50 mill away. Combat as is currently is scaling very well with top end ships.
