I'm pretty sure she is not fired, if she were she could speak of the whole thing freely on twitter.
From what we can tell by the tweets is that she was reassigned to someting else in the middle of making the AI changes, and she did not know this would happen on Wednesday. What we can speculate on is that her work will be left unattended for a while or for good.
What we don't know is whether that new thing is part of ED or a different game.
So I guess this means I will still be fighting NPCs who forgot where the trigger was for their weapons. A pity.

think so too, dont know what else she can do besides her evil minions, but i think that FD needs every man, woman and sadistic minion overlord to work on that big stuff now.

You know, some deadline could be fast approaching. Would make sense for FD to move all their devs to handle bug smashing (as teeth-gnashingly annoying that is for a dev in the middle of some project). Gotta get the new stuff working well enough for a live demo!
EDIT: To add, QA Dev probably involves some kind of special NDA, hence the forum blackout for SJA (and, in those last deleted posts, she was referring to bugs in combat AI).

Mods, can we get a title change as its erroneous according to SJAs comments on twitter? The AI update will be delayed while she works on new secret sauce, not that it will not come.
I'd prefer the title left alone. Her tweets that she's since deleted state that the 2 months of work were 'for nothing'. So until things are clarified by FD, I'm going to go with what the person working on the update said.

With SJA being great value on forums with her "mwuhaha" styles, it would be great to hear she's still full time on the ED team, assuming that's what she wants of course. Could be she's cracked many things about the AI that allow a different dev to carry on with finalising her code. It wouldn't be unreasonable for her to feel a sense of ownership / investment in the AI, so even she might not really like the idea of anyone else working on it, but "the powers that be" might have bigger better plans for her coding skills, who knows. Fly safe Commander SJA .. and if you can't fly safe, fly dang'rous!!
She twittered "One day". Now I guess that means a long delay and I guess that could mean next year. But certainly she did not twitter and did not give the impression that it was permanently cancelled.
More likely than that it's just some grunt work for Planet Coaster because someone higher up decided not to hire more people for that, but butcher the ED dev team instead. If it were the next big awesome in ED, they wouldn't basically have told here to stop everything about the AI update immediately and shelve it, but have let her wrap it up so that all that's been done so far can be released in 1.4.
Exactly. If this were a benign thing she would just have posted in the forums that AI work is being wrapped up and then she would start working on a new, secret feature. That alone could have created some positive hype. Instead they muffled her and shoved her away from what she was quite obviously passionate about. A manager who does that is either desperate because the company is barely scraping by, malicious, or utterly stupid. None of these things would bode well.

I like to think of the positive aspects of her interactions with us : I really appreciate her improving the approachs for the docking computer... I still get nervous when approaching an outpost. Good luck and don't let the bogeyman get you down.

Unfortunately, we americans are very lucky to get 4 weeks at any one time. Sometimes it is impossible to go more then 2 weeks before the overlords get frantic because your job is not being covered. regards
