Erased from Open Play at CUBEO

Only play in Open if you are prepared to have your entire monetary progression in the game wiped out in a second for the amusement of other players.
Other players cannot "wipe out your monetary progression". Only you can do that, by being foolish and flying without insurance.

looking back in some of your earlier posts, youve played this game since 2014?? which makes me wonder.. have you not learnt how the world of ELITE works and the dangers it involves?? it just seems odd you would post such a common scenario.. and say I quote "..that this type of play will drive most players from open play"

Au contraire, mon petite choux!

Fly with 5x insurance, get ganked rebuy
Fly with 4 x insurance, get ganked rebuy
Fly with 3 insurance, get ganked rebuy
Fly with 2 x insurance, get ganked rebuy
Fly with insurance, get ganked rebuy

Decide whether to sell your ship, sell off modules and leave it mothballed as you downgrade... so you strip modules and buy a smaller ship.

You now have almost nothing left apart from a large hull you can't fly as it has no insurance, and a small hull which seriously impairs your ability to re-earn the insurance float for your big hull.

For a large cargo pilot that financial crash is accelerated due to the loss of cargo on destruction.

Remember, in Open, you are someone else's content.

The amusement is yours too. Never ever i played in cheat mode(solo), not even for 1 minute. Never been ganked even in systems as leesti and such

judging from OP he made mistake of no situation awareness. that starts soon as you enter system or undock. Whats your asp loadout? its my hauler too , with class 6 shield and shield boosters + cells i dont have really problems with player fdls even in a wing. also when you escape , you escape to a other system , not in supercruise in the same system , thats suicide.

i hope you learn from it op , open is way much more fun , you dont get that danger feeling in solo.

Good luck commander

I consider myself an average, casual player. I liked the idea of interacting with real people. Sounded like fun. So, I've been playing in open play for over a month now, but no longer...

It all started when I was hanging around the Nav Marker in the Cubeo system in my fully outfitted Asp collecting bounties on NPCs. When I mistakenly fired on an NPC who I was trying to scan. This, of course gave me an immediate WANTED title. So for the galactic equivalent of a "fender bender", I'm WANTED.

So, I head for the station to buy a Sidewinder and clear my name. But before I can get to the station, I'm interdicted by a player in Fer de Lance. Now, I get interdicted all the time by NPCs and can almost always get out of it if I want to. But with this player interdiction, there was no escape. It did not mater where the escape vector was. My bar went down, and his went up unless mine was dead center.

After being pulled out of supercruise, I made a pass on him with my class 2 beam lasers and 4, class 1 multi-canons. I immediately realized that I was out of my league. So, I ran. I made it into supercruise with about 30% hull. I got my bearings and headed for the station to get repaired...Only to be immediately interdicted by the same Fer de Lance who proceeded to finish the job. No communication. I was freaking out and couldn't figure out how to text him anyway. So, blown to bits, I was.

All for a 400 credit bounty.

Okay, I have insurance. Cash flow hasn't been so great lately, so I had to take the loan. 800,000 credits or start over; not much of a choice there.

Time to play it safe and do some simple trade runs and get my cash back up and pay off the loan.

I made two runs.

But guess what. I was interdicted by a player wing in the same spot. Pirates, I suppose. This ended nearly the same as the encounter with the Fer de Lance. I had no way of escape. No communication. When I realized that I was about to die, I pulled my Asp to a complete stop and just sat there. They knocked me down to 1% hull, circled me a couple of times. Then, unceremoniously and figuratively put their weapon to my head and pulled the trigger.

All for 88 tones of food cubes.

Now, I'm in a Sidewinder, at the butt-end of inhabited space with my 1000 credits in a private game.

I'm not posting this to whine. I knew the risks. But I'm playing to have fun. Having my entire Elite career reduced to smoldering ruins in the coarse of 30 minutes is not my idea of fun.

My point for this post is basically to say that this type of play will drive most players from open play and these "career" players will be left to fight amongst themselves. And wont that be fun...for them.

PM me, and in it, let me have your Cmdr name - I'll pop over and meet you to drop some valuable cargo your way if you want some quick help in getting back on your feet.

Learn to escape it only takes 15 seconds :

1 Submit to the interdiction (your cooldown is faster)
2 Pips to engines, throttle up, do not deploy weapons
3 Select the furthest away system you can jump to (high wake jump not affected by masslock 15 second charge)
4 Boost whilst evading in the general direction of the escape system
5 Once you've jumped emergency drop to normal space select another system and jump again, they will probably not work out where you are.
6 Repeat if necessary

Always cover insurance :

1 Check before you launch, every time you launch
2 Sell modules to cover insurance if necessary, a downgrade is better than a total loss
3 Trade your ship for a cheaper one, again better than a total loss
4 Don't buy cargo that puts you over the limit, less profit is better than a total loss

Friendly fire :

1 Check your targets
2 Don't shoot the space police
3 If you have poor target perception, practice escaping you'll need to do it repeatedly

the saddet part is.... all this guy had to do was

jump away to a close system
wait for the 10 minute countdown to lapse
jump back to sytem that he no longer shows wanted in
go to station of faction issuing fine
pay off 400 cr fine

job done....no sidewinder required

Yep, it does come down to insurance. I'd never fly without the full amount - preferably double. It's not a mean system - it's actually there to help you. But it has to be used.

Edit: Example - I let my kid use my account and fly my Python today. I'm so far above the insurance limit, that if he mashes it, it's a disappointment, but not the end of my game (and fun for him.)

OP has taken the correct decision.
.
He can't watch his own fire, he is unable to scape interdictions, he can't manage to take evasive maneuvers, he flies without insurance, and he doesn't know how to use SC and Witchspace jumps to scape.
.
He is literally the last person who should click on the "Open" button. So yes, for his own sake, he MUST play in Solo mode. That way he'll enjoy the game much more.

No .. the OP had the misfortune to find a wing of murderers. Pirates take your goods, not your life.

Murderers are welcomed to the game, it's just that sadly every player I have met who interdicted me was one .. ;)

Mindless PK'ing Murderers who kill you for absolutely no reason simply show you how bad they are at playing the game, and as an added bonus give you something absolutely precious. You have the power to make then RAEG until their mother kicks them out of the basement.

I similarly suffered just now at the hands of murderers... I was in my FDL, full power to engines and chain boosting to try escape the 4 player wing... I seemed to be mass locked by another FDL who continued to catch up with me and strip my shields and eventually they killed me... Seemed like a no-win situation as even boosting and straight to supercruise there wasn't a way to escape... What to do in those situations? Anyone? (fully equpped A rated FDL) - this was in CUBEO as well

Easy: Jump to another system, no masslock. 15 seconds.

Any A classs fitted FDL would surve that.

My point for this post is basically to say that this type of play will drive most players from open play and these "career" players will be left to fight amongst themselves. And wont that be fun...for them.

And that's why I call Open Play "Toxic/Lawless Mode".
It seriously should be called like that, just so it is honest and transparent about it - and all new Players instantly know what they're potentially venturing into.

It sure is an interesting mode - but it comes with all consequences of being the toxic shark tank it is.
But being what it is, it's simply not for everyone - or not for all conditions (i.e. very tight on cash or even short of insurance)...

PS.
If you need your Asp back in full kit and with Insurance, just PM me. That can be easily arranged.

Or play in a private group like Mobius where you can interact with other CMDR's without being pirated!
