PowerPlay RUINED My Game

Pranav Antal... That <potato head> has taken over several systems I traded in, so now I can't buy Performance Enhancers and a whole schwack of other items I made a killing on. I'm forced to move all my ships 101 LYs away, and I don't even do PowerPlay!

Sux!

Sounds like it just moved your game 101 LYs away instead of ruining it.

PP, the "game changer" no-one asked for...ever. ;-)

FD should perhaps look at the respondent stats for the "Do You PowerPlay" poll.

Over 87% of respondents say "NO". Which might be significant if the chances of "poll participation" are 50:50.

I'm not (nor planning to be) aligned with any faction, but surely having their shifting influences around is a good thing? Living galaxy and all that? I think it adds a nice bit of depth to things, probably all the more so because I'm not trying to make sense (or indeed profit) from the more questionable mechanics of it.

That's a good thing in some ways. Players actually changing the galaxy. I do feel for you. I smuggle. But not on my turf.

Clandestine or something like it

It's so comforting knowing the Universe doesn't only evolve around just me.
It's a reason why we are made to H-Jump when WANTED. We have the same habilts as fleas otherwise...

I think it is good there are mechanisms in the game that push us out of our comfort zone.
I had a good thing going in a certain system too until the day came that A. Lavigny-Duval collapsed.
I just adapted and sought new adventures.

I sympathise, but actually this is what makes Powerplay great! It forces us to change our gameplay because things around us change dynamically. And that it's driven by player actions is even better. Almost makes me want to pledge to somebody. :)

That actually sounds awesome, like the galaxy is evolving a little and forcing you to reconsider how you can best make a profit, actually presenting you with a challenge, instead of allowing you to endlessly grind the same route. The Galaxy changes, you should learn to change with it! It's like real life, you want nothing to do with the Government for the most part, but sometimes they just bust on up in yo crib and be like "gimme all yo stuff" and your like I never asked for this.

Actually, the most recent dev post talks about a possible future mechanic that would allow you to become a "freedom fighter" in a system you pledge to and help them fight off the controlling power. So you could then fight off that <potato head> Parnav Antal and take back your systems.

This is something I hope happens

As an emissary of the Glorious Utopian collective, it seems your real issue is that you haven't embraced Utopian transcendence through technology. Feel free to come back for a free education in how you can transcend your corrupt ways.

There's a lovely Federation controlled system that's been taken over by one of the Imperial Powers and over 500,000 Federation citizens have just embraced Imperial Slavery to pay off their debts. It currently pays over 3,500 Credits a ton to ship to Facece or Achenar.
