To my knowledge Elite isn't a set number its past 1bil yes but people have gotten between 1.1 to 1.3bil
I think the same (kinda) applies to the other ranks (combat/exploration).

Yeah, my elite trading promo came in yesterday. It was hard to figure when it would pop, because I did some smuggling before smuggling counted towards trade. I think it turns out that once you make tycoon, each 1 % is about 6.5M.
Don't know about trading but in combat you can loose progress. Just dropped from 40% to 30% percent after dying in a CZ recently. Has anyone tried if loosing money does the same to trade rank?
That's a bug if true and I would report it.
Can't see myself making the effort to Elite trading anytime soon, it's pretty tedious...
I am grinding to Tycoon at about 2 mill =1%. So after that to get to Elite = 1% every 6 mill. Wow how tedious is that.
Yup, get one of elite ranks, youre gonna get that permit.

Are you sure? It kind of makes sense to lose progress if you die. I did not only lose my progress from the recent session but dropped beyond that. Started with 40%, ranked to 45% and dropped to 30% after dying. For me that looks on purpose. Another interesting thing is that you not only improve your rank by killing ships but handing in bounties and bonds aswell.
Money has nothing to do with combat, it's a background points system based on kills and the ranks of your targets compared to your own.
Now why would you want to get elite in trading?

All that cash makes a lovely python, and who know i may just get an Orca for the lols
Of course i'd get it from Alioth (permit gives -20% price for Orca + Asp and is easy to get) as the saving alone makes for the price of the jump drive .Once i get my Elite status for trade i can work some more on exploration /yawn.. sorry it just bores the hell out of me (and this from a trader... i know
