Don't you mean to say, OP, that your ship freaked out on you and you couldn't get the throttle to engage, and it was a sitting duck, and that you're too proud to combat log? Sounds like a ticket item to me. Weren't you carrying like 2 million tons of Palladium as well?

I think there's even a private group doing Ironman rules. I'm not sure how it works but I assume they can see each other on the Galaxy Map and anything goes sounds kinda fun. Good news is the grind isn't as grindy since mission rewards went up. Also remember your ranks improve the amount mission rewards grant so one or two missions can put you back in a Cobra.

I had this happen to me in my Python, the first time around- i got rammed by a Clipper i had to kill...:eek:
I swear i could hear him laughing at my destruction as i flew out of the cockpit into the deep deep void...... Load new CMDR Y/N .. /meh :eek:

Out in the void "Shift happens"....after that i NEVER flew without insurance... and yes i have died a few more times due to tiredness - killed by the orbital arms of death at Bacon port (Gliese 868- I REMEMBER THEE!:mad:), the list goes on.. i have had several claims....:eek:

Note of caution- Shift usually happens when your hauling very expensive cargo- 232 tons of Palladium, oh perfect target for a miss timed boost into the station wall / Swinging arm of death from an orbital.. yes all these things together make Elite:DANGEROUS :eek:

Try a DBS good cheap mission runner and bounty hunting ship, better than a lot of the bigger ships.

Good luck OP,

Glad you are having fun, few hours of missions and now you talking about a Viper.

A friend and I started second characters a few weeks back. Even wothout the Reputation gain, I found the start a lot easier than Feb (I reset in 1.1), and great fun.

My favourite moment, Cobra player interdicted my D rated Adder. Al my cargo was Mission based. Weighing up fight/run/negoatiate it was great, nothing something you get in a 70Mcr Python.
