Having fun, is a major distraction to making credits in this game. Especially if you are looking at a loss, due to the 90seconds taken to dock. Of course there is also the issue; that when you have a little saved, there is that module; you just HAVE to have. Lucky we all have RESs to fall back on.

I have been in a warzone today for an hour and a half.
Had great fun, made 3.5 million.
Good enough for me.
Was bounty hunting and doing illegal hauling missions for a few hours yesterday.
Had great fun and made multiple millions too.
All good as far as having cake and eating it too is concerned.
I do not need to make many millions with everything I do.
Instead of making more money I would like having to follow a target through several system, or having to spy on a pirate base in an asteroid with specialized tools (taking pictures with a camera that sits in a weapon hard point for example, or having to hack a computer inside and plant some spyware.
Or I would like to do some secret missions for the military, having to search for an enemy listening post in deep space etc. etc.

Doing money with bounty hunting is certainly possible :

Well, with the upgrade to the mission rewards, I find I make a decent amount of money while having a lot of fun...
Money = not fun
Fun = not money
And then this 3rd independent variable, CAKE, is suddenly introduced!

You cannot make money bounty hunting?
There are some very lucrative bounty hunt missions too.
But they depend on your combat rank (I am almost Elite, but not quite).
I got 800k the other day for killing 16 pirates.
And that is not even counting the bounties they had.
I also scan them all, which can greatly enhance the bounty income.
On top of that I pledged to Lavigny-Duval (although I am no longer active for PP).
That gives me a bounty hunt bonus if I hunt in her domain.
