it never changes

been away from PVP whilst exploring since jan. First trip out I get interdicted by a cmdr who attacks unprovoked, (carrying no cargo, not wanted), and he precedes to ram me until I explode.

Having now read the forums this is due to shield cell stacking.

1. unbelievably lame tactic
2. great combat gameplay (sarcasm)
3. the utter idiots that inhabit open play never change

think I may stick to a closed group from now on. good luck out there

Just to be clear, the problem isn't ramming, it's shield cells which are just terrible and I hate them.

I had a similar situation recently, however, unfortunately for the offending CMDR I was in a Python stacking a full laser loadout and had 10 cell bank charges of my own.
Didn't manage to kill him/her since they fled like a rat out of an aqueduct when their shields dropped.

I was quite surprised to be honest, from my experience these peculiar folk seem to usually target unarmed and unarmoured traders for their kicks.

Elite Dangerous, where everything goes and the rules don't matter......

Very true dude, I just think its a shame. You say it doesn't matter, but the truth is that it is a game and it is meant to be fun, if this is what combat in elite has become you can keep it. I can also stack these boosters and cells and we can play jousting, oh what fun.

Shame really because the devs were going for dog fighting, but I guess people are happy with the old tactics of knights, next we will have dragons and.....oh yes magic yippee.

Seriously, killed open play for me, and I used to say everyone should be in open, not with people acting like this.

Indeed......if anything PP and lack of any meaningful consequences for psychotic pilots has made things worse, so I immediately leave an area if I even see another cmdr in open now.....I don't like multi-million credit buybacks when I am rocking less than 10 million credits

Yeah, this has very little to do with pvp in my eyes, the sole purpose of these kinds of attacks are "lol I can kill someone and make them hurt", and while they are allowed and are part of the game, that doesn't change that it takes quite a personality to enjoy doing nothing more then hurting others that cannot defend themselves, like those that kill new players with big ships, there is no challenge, no profit, and absolutely no reason for such behaviour.

Yet people do it time and time again in a great many games, mostly because we do not have a real way of punishing them without affecting the pvp that should exist.

I think a system kinda like GTA Online's bad player system "might" be the answer though, in short, the game gets a way to monitor how aggressive people are what kind of targets, and the points in that system are different depending on loadout and maybe ingame ranks, it also slowly degrades over time, so that if you aren't aggressive for x amount of time then it goes back to 0, but if you go beyond a certain value, you are shadowbanned, basically the matchmaking system would then only match you up with other bad players.

Edit: ban would naturally only exist for a certain amount of time, before they would be considered 'ok' again, and let back into normal matchmaking.

You know, a system like this could be implemented to remove mass murderers from the game. Is that a good thing though? No one can really cash in on their bounties....is that a bad symptom of the solution? It's a smart concept but we really need to analyze how to implement it and the implications of the system.

As thoroughly borked as bounty hunting players is due to instancing I would say that it wouldn't be any more harmful than things are as they stand. If killing clean players had some really bad consequences like revocation of insurance or severe authority reprisals then the pk'ers could be put where they belong and those who truly want to role-play an individual of questionable morals might be more drawn to play the role vs. more npc's which would not have such severe drawbacks.

If you have been out in the Black since Jan, then put a ticket into FD. They can see what has happened etc. It can't hurt.

...............mind you, I have asked, why can't pirates steal such data? It has to be an option for the future.

At the beginning I was upset by this behaviour too but after some time I thought that I wouldn't be kicked off from open play by some bully childish player killer who thinks he's a big fighter killing harmless ships. So I bought a Vulture (low rebuy cost vs. high combat efficacy), maxfitted it and started wandering around in open play.

Things changed from night to day (or from darkness to light or from black to white, don't know how is said in english). Sometimes I'm killed, more often I have to run away and sometimes I make them fly but, whatever happens I always enjoy it a lot with rivers of adrenaline flowing in my veins.

If you have never tried it you will never understand what I'm saying nor can ever say you have played E: D indeed.

My advice is to try it at least once before going to hide in a rabbit hole private group crying that people in OP are evil.

ramming clipper with scb spam is unbeatable

even if you 4v1 he can leave at any time unharmed (mass lock does not work in pvp)

the pvp in this game is an absolute joke

Its because you can kill a clean player by ramming and get no punishment because you didn't fire on them, that's whats wrong here, ramming is a valid tactic but is not recognised as an attack and it should be. The player concerned should incur a 'wanted' tag then we can shoot them and not incur the 'wanted' tag ourselves. When we have the ability to defend without recrimination then we will see an end to it IMO.
If you will kill somebody by ramming him you will get bounty on your head. I tested it on random T6 commander. That was in 1.3.0.

other option would be for fd to make blocking a player prevent matchmaking from putting them in same instance , for the lolz killers would find themselves running out of targets faster , now have seen conflicting dev posts about this saying it does and doesnt do this currently so idk , but it might be the easiest of the options to use to deal with bad eggs to code idk , could be abused sure but people try to do that with any system generally speaking and some people may block anyone that kills them , but there is no wrong way to play and it would really be no different then them going to solo or group any way, but would help for the people that want to play and rp and interact with others and not deal with lolz killer trolls, just a thought
