A question about lights in 3301

Good morning CMDR's!

Hope you all had a good weekend?

Right, down to business. As I see a lot of people asking new, sometimes simple questions I figured I should chime in with a point that is causing me sleepless nights and panic attacks during the day. Ok, that may be over stating it a little but I've noticed the more distress you appear to be in the more chance you will get some meaning full response! ;)

Cabin light. Is there one? If so where is it please? If not, why not?

If it's in the 'plan' can we have a dimmer switch with it please?

Every car I have ever been in has one, planes, trains and even boats have them. While flying away from the sun I am in total darkness, what if I can't find my M & M's?

This is the thing rage quits are made of!

Never mind about that, what about the ship lights ? A 1979 Mini had better lights than either my Cobra or vulture.

Indeed. I always find it illuminating when my Asp finally manages to throw a couple of photons onto the asteroid I now have zero chance of avoiding. At least I get to see the surface texture of the rock that will drain my shield!

I don't know about you, but I never turn on my cabin light when I'm driving at night.
Makes sense, you would not be able to see anything with cabin lights. A switch would be nice though, but only if they get reflections working for your canopy.

I guess the lights we get in the cabin come from the HUD. That you can adjust. There is a slider for HUD brightness in the right hand panel where you choose sides in a CZ and/or turn the orbit lines, on an off. I am not in game now, and I forget just exactly what FD calls it.

I had already found that one, good for tuning out the blur on some parts of the HUD. I can understand why we don't have them on all the time while driving a car, makes it hard to see out of the window etc. but this is not the A580 at 10pm. :)

Some ships do have cabin lights, and the real disappointment there is not being able to switch them off.

The light dose not even have to work, just at least exist!

I would love cabin lights. Flying at night (irl time) the HUD does my head in, even on low settings. I think cabin lights world help.

As for headlights, they can illuminate things 1/2 km away - is that not enough?

The gist of my post was that some ships have cabin lights and those lights work (in addition to existing). Unfortunately they can not be turned off or dimmed.

The lights on the Clipper's bridge are great, but I when I was flying a T6 I longed for the days of flying a ship with a dark cabin. Be careful what you wish for, you might only get half the wish (lights with no dimmer switch).

Makes me wish you could change the exterior lights, maybe upgrade from those things that let you see an asteroid 500 meters away to some super high beams that will blind other pilots, maybe get different colors too for some disco action.

No one drives with the interior light on! ... Do they?

1. We do not drive our ships, we fly or would it be hover... Oh dam I'm confused now!
2. Err... There is no 2!

I just figured it would be nice to have a cabin light, for those times when people have the room lights turned off and need to see. It was an idea to improve immersion a little. Kind of like when you pull over to the side of the road and make a phone call or something, you pop the interior light on.

I also figured that it would be a fun thing to talk about given that it's Monday and we all had a pretty heavy week on the forums what with all the scandal of the SJA thing.

I love how some good ideas have come from it though!

My T7 has nice cabin lights, I just can't find the button to switch them off. Now we are at it, clickable cockpit buttons would be a great feature.
