and that's a good idea, i would probably try if that was two years ago, but now i think i'll wait for ED, but if anyone wants to do it i can help, after all i know a few things about programming, not so much about web programming though.

2047 planets? you mean systems from Elite?
Lave is in FE2 & FFE, i made it very visible with those "waves"(lave radio transmitting) there are a few systems around it which come from the original Elite(riedquat, zaonce, leesti...). look at sector [-3;-6]

I hope you didn't take the comment the wrong way. I love the maps, you've done an excellent job.
Reorte is one of the original Elite systems and features in some of the new literature. I was browsing your work and noticed it as will people who remember the old game.
Methinks the Reortians might frown at the apology if they're at the back...
The planet was renamed after it was found to have many useful natural reorces for miners to exploit, thus ending its long standing as a holiday reorte for the speech impaired.

i'll change it but i have to update the 3 maps entirely, and i noticed a few other things that i should change as well so i'll do it all when i have some more time because it takes a little while to generate even only one of those pictures.
tell Reortians that others have known worse, some were living in the Disco system a while back

since tourists now prefer to have some fun in the not too far away system of Diso, they even intend to rename it Disco as the system is currently facing a renewal of the Long forgotten Disco style music from earth pre-spatial era.

There were a few I recall because they sounded funny - like Cequququ. Try saying it!
It would be a nice little touch if there were pockets of old planet names around...

Great maps. They make me dream of my future travels in the ED universe.
I would love to own a huge, well designed 7 by 7 foot paper map of the Elite Dangerous galaxy.
Like many others I still own the original Frontier box with the original map. When playing Frontier I would always spread the map out on the floor and study it when planning a voyage.
I hope there will be a big steel box collector´s version of Elite Dangerous with a huge map inside.

A slightly smaller version, it took me minutes to do it!!!
if a sector possess at least one Imperial or Federal system, it will hide the independent sytems in the same sector by using Fed/Imp color.
Sectors for Lave(-3;-6), Alioth(0;5), Achenar(1;-4) and Sol(0;0) have their own colors.

they are only single planet/single star systems, so if there's any other old system names, i'd like them to be a little less empty than those ones.

in French you also have "C'est cucul" ("it's dumb/stupid/ridicule" that sort of thing) there's holala system too
rigth bellow the frontier logo on the original mal(though it doesnt show on the paper)there's Waaa(7;8)
there are a few colorful ones as well.
French speaking people should find one quite interesting in sector 11;11...

i'd love to as well, but i dont know how it will translate from 3d to 2d in that case. it might show a much smaller region of space so as to keep some "readability", or only show the most important stars on a larger region.
i cant really think of another way to do it. or maybe just showing stars close to the galactic map, omitting all the ones too far behind or above, so that in the end it would look like the one in frontier.
there is a special box that you could "preorder" earlier on the web app as a pledge reward, before 9 December last year, it includes a starmap and a few other things, though i doubt the map will be as huge as mine
. i really dont know if they'll put it back on Sell later on, maybe they wont . Nice one nicomak. I lost the maps I drew of my travels in Frontier (on paper!). It is great to look at yours and see how much it all comes flooding back!

that's for every fan of Frontier!Nice work! Interesting to see very clearly that most systems are still independent. It opens up a race for getting them to choose their alliance. I think The Federation and The Alliance have a good chance to grow considerably. Not just because they allow their alliance partners to remain free, but also because they'd want protection from The Empire and being alone is vulnerable.
and even within Federal/Imperial & Alliance Space there are a few Independent systems, especially within the federation, the other two ... not so much, except for those distant imperial systems which are al alone in their sectors.
