Newcomer / Intro Can't dock; ship too large?

So I'm trying to deliver some cargo to a dock with my imperial clipper; however there is no landing pad large enough.
What am I supposed to do?
I can abandon the mission but I get fined :S

Get a smaller ship, buy the cargo you need to deliver and then deliver it. It doesn't matter if it isn't the original cargo you were given, as long as it's the correct type and amount. I know it's a hassle but you either do that or fail the mission.

Sounds like you took a mission to deliver to an outpost. Large ships can't land on those, unfortunately, as they never have larger than medium pads (and sometimes not even those, though that's rare). I can't really help you with this particular situation, but in the future, if you don't recognize the destination, always check the system map to find out whether a mission is targeted at a station or an outpost, and it will save you trouble like this.

Further information: The largest ship capable of landing at outposts is the Python. The Anaconda, Type 9, Type 7, Clipper and Orca are all too large for them.

Unfortunatly, it doesn't always. You can sometimes find several missions going to the same outpost where some will mention it, and others won't. So the system map is the only way to be sure. Or out-of-game tools like http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ where you can see the landing pad size of specific outposts.

This can be a real pain. I'm actually considering buying a smaller ship to compliment my Clipper so I can still take on some of the juicier missions to Outposts.

Out of curiosity. I have read that a Anaconda can carry small fighters such as a Sidewinder. Is this something a player can do? In that case with a Anaconda you could do missions to outposts by flying to it with your Anaconda and land with a Sidewinder :) but guess it's not something you can do as player lol.

No, it is something mentioned in the development but never implemented.

It will be implemented in a future update.
But I suspect that hauling cargo in such a manner will be too much of a hassle :).

The implementation might be difficult (how do you change ships? Can you park in orbit/space? internal sizing and facilities!) but the outcome would be fantastic. Best of both worlds and horses for courses all rolled up. A new world of options!

OK, that's my optimistic tuppenceworth. I await the litany of downsides with interest.

I haven't seen any plans to implement this. are you sure they have committed to it ?
I think they might go the way of using delivery limpets for larger ships to trade with outposts.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why the Python beats the Clipper every time :D

But to solve your issue- use a smaller (aka Medium size) ship

Fly safe, fly a

Depends on how much cash you have.

The Fed Dropship is an amazing thing to have with your clipper (yes its not as aesthetically pleasing as the Clipper) and this one will set you back 26 mill http://coriolis.io/outfit/federal_d...f1b1b1b1b----05040448020201.Iw18aQ==.Aw18aQ==

But it gets the job done, and has a decent size cargo, you can skim half a mill of it by reducing your weapons as well.

Other than that a Type 6 or a Cobra will suffice if you want some guns.

Fly safe out there.

Correction: The Type 7 can land at an outpost as it only requires a medium pad.

Ignore me, I'm full of s#*t. ;)

I use my Cobra kitted for stealth running as the juicy delivery missions tend to be a bit illegal! I.e. big power supply, small power usage; you can achieve that how you want but shields and thrusters are biggest power users. ~22% temp in normal cruise and can use silent running from 10km out if needs be (with no heat ejection thingys or boost).

I'm certain this'll be fixed once they release the XL class
(detachable nose cone with planet-landing capability) :)
