Elite Dangerous and Windows 10 Discussion thread.

Iv not noticed any issues while playing in game. However twice now when iv saved & exited the game, it seems to want to send FD a crash report??

Just as a note. I've just upgraded and supercruise is dropping to below 20fps.

Haha I just did the upgrade, should have read this before :p I've been running the preview build at work since it first released and just kicked off the upgrade at home a few minutes ago. Unlike 8 though it doesn't seem to be getting all angry about my Asus unified drivers for sound card.

Note : anyone using edtracker, you'll probably have to find it in device manager and reinstall the driver. Edtracker software is recognizing it but open track is not, don't have time to look right now but I'm guessing that's the issue, will update.

Just a heads up that a new Nvidia-Driver was released minutes ago, downloading atm (available either via Win10-Update, Nvidia-Website or Nvidia-Geforce-Experience).

Most of those issues were in preview builds. Even if it's the latest preview build it doesn't speak to the quality of the consumer release. The nvidia issue has already been fixed and I don't trust the opinions of a website that uses click bait titles and explosions to over emphasize a minor issue. Considering the end of the article points out the fact that it's already been fixed. Too many Chicken Littles.

Apparently, the Windows 10 app did not work on either of my Win 7 versions. Meh...they want to give away a free program...maybe they should make sure that the app for it works on everyones computers?!

I would like to hear from some people running mid-range system on how it affects performance on Elite before I upgrade, but in the end I guess I might not have a choice...

You didn't get the icon on your task bar to "reserve" your upgrade?

Just to clarify that for me - you can reserve the free upgrade, but you don't have to install it 'til later (up to a year)?

The following NVidia driver for my GTX 970, 353.30-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whq, has improved the stuttering quite a lot. The usual suspects planetary approach has returned a bit, but it is liveable with until further updates come from the GPU manufacturers NVidia and AMD and or until FD optimize ED a little more for the new OP system.

Hope this helps.

Yes that's correct.

Anyone whose update hasn't started yet and is getting impatient can go to this link, http://bit.ly/Win10DownISO and choose the 32 bit image download or 64 bit depending on your system. The link is from the Microsoft website and worked fine today.

Chicken Little's or people with experience of the early performance of every other windows OS ever released. You go ahead and act as a bug detector, I'll treat this version with the same caution I've applied since WIN95. Given that every release has always been marketed as bug free and wonderful I'm skeptical of positive press.

Good luck, we're all counting on you.

How's the game stability of the new NVIDA Driver I heard the last few had some stablity issues btw? Also are the joysticks like the X52 Pro working well with Windows 10?

Well I wasn't referring to you specifically but just people in general. I've upgraded at or close to launch since 98 and of course there are going to be bugs but nothing that can't easily be ignored until fixed usually. Though I'm one of those "idiots" that never had an issue with Vista or 8. (Not that you referred to me as an idiot but that's the general response I get from people who hated Vista and 8). I'm happy to be a "bug detector" as I've been using the preview build since it was available with very few issues.

Can anyone confirm if the following work with Windows 10?:

- Opentrack (with PointTracker and freetrack)
- Joystick Curves
- PS3 Eye (CL Eye driver)

Opentrack works though at the moment it's not detecting my edtracker probably because I need to reinstall the driver for it. I'll test when I get home tonight though.

My x55 is still working as it should so I imagine the x52 will be fine as well.

Live build as far as I am aware. This is I believe the latest full release build..

The build installed is Version 10.0.10240 Build 10240
Version 10.0.10240 Build 10240
from the link at http://bit.ly/Win10DownISO which I listed in an earlier post on the MS download site in case anyone did not wish to wait a long time for their wave of upgrade to arrive.

What works for individuals does not necessarily work for places with 450+ workstations from multiple vendors. We have to do a lot more than just make E: D work on a single PC. If you've had no issues you are lucky. You are the exception, not the rule and I speak from being bitten far too many times by MS software after tens of thousands of workstation and server installs. Win10 is simply not to the standard I expect at this point for a corporate product.

Win8 resulted in more conversions to Linux than any other OS on our campus. From what I see today this trend will continue and with my full support.
