Windows 10 and Elite Dangerous

I know this has been discussed before but as Windows 10 is released today could any commanders who've installed it let me know if ED runs fine on it or if they've had any problems so far for those of us who are wary about installing it? So far I've read positive things about Windows 10 and if ED has no problems on it I might go ahead and click that little Windows icon in the bottom right of my screen!

been running elite dangerous on win 10 preview builds since december. no problems here. only problems i have encountered are with nvidia driver but they seem to have been cured for me anyway..

Same here. No problems at all. All peripherical-stuff working as well (Hotas Warthog, TrackIR, Voiceattack etc.) - all good. Slightly more stutters in SC though.

The forum search function is very weak IMO. I know I have seen some Windows 10 threads but can't find them.
Just got to Google and search using the "site" operator:

Code:
site:forums.frontier.co.uk "windows 10" +stutter

Only results from this site will be returned, and the speech marks will return results with that exact phrase. you can add a plus sign (+) to ensure that only pages with a term are returned.

So quick question - after upgrading to 10, do you need to re-install your programs, eg Steam, ED etc etc? I'm presuming everything you have installed now will still be installed after the upgrade?

Thanks...

What drivers are folk using with Win10. Been on the insider program for a few months but never installed mobo drivers etc. I take it for older boards like my Z77, 8.1 (*64) will be the way to go?

Found I needed to go properties both in launcher and in product folder ed exe file and tick run as administrator. But my files are on a separate hard drive.

I could get as far as the login completed but the play button didn't operate until I did this.

Noticed Sever FPS drops to as low as 17FPS and sudden graphic freezes. Nvidia gtx 970 i7 cpu 2month old computer will look for different drivers on NVidia.

Ha ha, all El Reg can be trusted for is to provide a negative view on just about anything they decide to set their minds to... I'd trust them less for professional opinion than most other tech sites.

W10 ain't perfect but it's pretty decent. I prefer it to W7 (my 2 main PCs currently) and my laptop (W8.1 currently). I've dual booted all 3 for a while and all 3 have been better for me with W10. YMMV.

Drivers and compatibility are always concerns with any new OS release. Especially in the PC world where there are so many configurations. If you're willing to deal with a few potential issues, Win 10 is a very good OS. Fast, sleek, useful. If you want it all to work out of the box, and you have a computer that's more than 1 or 2 years old, my suggestion is to wait until you get the all clear from your PC's manufacturer.
