Invisi-Rings

Do you see the rings?

I knew they were there so I went in carefully and looked. If you start in the lower left corner of the frame and look up toward the right in front of the nose of my ship - you can see the rings. Sort of.

I went a bit further in, slowly, and -whammo-

I have run into rings like these before. The previous time was around a gas giant orbiting a neutron star. I could barely see anthing at all and it was very difficult to figure out the right direction to jump without taking damage from dropping back out of supercruise.

Some planets in reality will have very tenuous rings.

By rights they should be dangerous - they're difficult to see, and we're all piloting essentially Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

Agree, there should be large-area and point-scale hazards associated with exploring. Some unavoidable (the twin sun roasting on jump-in is one) but repairable, some unrepairable but large pay-off.

Probably needs more human directed design/curation and time/$$ than FD has available, unless those can be scripted in and the ED galaxy populated more procedurally.

FTL travel would be incredibly deadly in the 1st place. All else can be overlooked.
