Core dynamics, I believe

And yeah it may have just been more simple to buff the current model than to completely make a new one.
But I love me some ship stats. Can't wait to play around with the ship yard
Why? What is the current one hurting? And the new one sound's like it was converted to a gunship, which leave's the other still useful to those who actually bothered learning to pilot it.
How about, when the Dropship II hits stores, they retire the original?
It's not a new ship. It's a mod to an old one.

Not if they wanted to change the weapons. They had to change the mesh and all the animations to do that.
The dropship mk2 and the federal gunship will be two separate craft.
I think if the dropship mk1 was buffed to be on par with the clipper that would have made more sense than a completely new ship.
But! As I said, I love new ships. Favorite part of the game is the ships so the more the better.
Perhaps "attack craft" or "heavy fighter" would be more appropriate, as "gunship" usually implies a fairly specific role. They described the Dropship Mk. 2 as if it wouldn't have as good a cargo capacity but better offense and defense as a tradeoff, I used the term gunship just because of lack of better descriptive word.![]()

I am quite excited too.Stop posting pictures of awesome gun shipssss
I can't handle the hyyype
Gaaaaah
From what I understand, the MK II isn't meant to replace the MK I. Instead, it is a specialized version of it. For instance, look at the C-130 in real life. The "base version" is a very flexible transport aircraft. The AC-130 Spectre gunship is a (ridiculously cool) combat-focused version of the C-130. In a fight, the AC-130 is objectively superior. It has some serious firepower. It did not "replace" the C-130 however, since the C-130 is capable of being used for other purposes.
The Mk1 Cobra has been entirely phased out by the Mk3 Cobra, where the Mk1 Cobra only existed in used ship lots back 3250. The Mk2 Cobra was so objectively terrible it never went into full production. From what I understand, the MK II isn't meant to replace the MK I. Instead, it is a specialized version of it.
I'm hoping for a 4 large version of the 3 large/2medium Python with Core Dynamics styling.
How about, when the Dropship II hits stores, they retire the original? Some players love it but from what I've seen, most consider it a junk ship, not worth having. "Dear customers, thank you for your patronage; due to obsolescence, the original Federal Dropship will no longer be appearing in shipyards. However, we here at whichever company we are promise to continue to provide parts and service for the same fee to those who already own one." Yeah, i forget which company... Was it Faulcon deLacy?
Yeah, I just have a thing for X shaped two plane symmetrical ships. As for the powerplant, use the python's internal bay configuration since it has a class 7 powerplant. More or less asking for a ship with the same stats as a python but shaped like in a Core Dynamics (federation) style.Didn't they already reveal it's going to have 1 large, 4 medium, 2 small hardpoints?
Aside from that it will probably have too small a Powerplant and too few internal compartments, like all pure combat ships in the game so far.

Core Dynamics will also remove the ballast which was accidentally left on the Dropships which will reduce the hull mass from a 580 tons to a 350tons which will increase jump range and shield strength. Spokesmen for the company say that it was very silly that a brand new ship using the latest in technology would be nearly twice as heavy as ships built half a millennium before so it was odd that nobody noticed until now.Why not just buff the existing one instead? Just for the extra publicity ("look everyone, we made a new ship")? Just so that owners of the existing ship have to buy a new one, with probably even a modified design (which they may or may not like compared to the original Dropship)?
