General / Off-Topic How to improve Voyager?

Intrepid_class_top_quarter_aft.jpg

My suggestions:

- Demote Captain Janeway to deck scrubber.
- Promote the Doctor to Captain.
- Install a spring loaded boxing glove over the tactical station so that whenever Tuvok utters the word "logic", or any word with "logic" in it, he immediately gets punched in the face, to the point where it becomes illogical to say the word "logic".
- Chuck Chakotay out of the airlock.
- Put Neelix in a blender.

How about you all - how would you improve Voyager?

Getting rid of Nelix' wife and replacing her with 7 of 9 was a nice start.

Flush Janeway out of the airlock and have the foux-Indian man take charge, use the caretaker's dying powers to return to the alpha/beta quadrants, thus turning Voyager into a TV movie with minimal Neelix and absolutely NO TUVIX.

Ive never understood the hate for Janeway and Neelix.. I thought they were awesome characters. Flawed, sometimes contradictory and emotional... In other words Human, which made for some good stories... But I was glad they got rid of Kez..... she just didnt mesh with the other characters, but my god she had a hot voice.

The actress who played Kes was an emotional wreck, very much like Kes when she reappeared a few seasons after her departure.

The thing about Janeway is she was constantly contraticting herself. Neelix was just annoying. There are a few good blogs about these subjects so check them out if you'd like :D

I think at this point the writers of the TV series were burnt out, and some of them just really didn't understand Star Trek anymore. Many of the actors were very vocal about how the writers were treating the characters, Robert Beltran(Chakotay) was especially critical. We'd gone through about a decade of Trek on TV, with TNG, DS9(My personal favorite), then Voyager, and I think it was just too much.

I guess the Delta quadrant is further away then Sig-a so recreating the voyage will be impossible?
70,000 LY = 10,000 x 7 LY jumps...

No, DS9 was pretty bad tbh, especially at the end. Maybe made it to 4 or 5 but 3 was the pinnacle story wise, the rest was just war stuff and occasional characters dying...and the religious type thing with the Emissary. It faded pretty hard tbh. The end wasn't that good either.
Voyager got a lot better and far beyond DS9...wasn't tied so hard to places it couldn't move from. It did take maybe 3-4 series to get going though. Early stuff was crap.

Enterprise did kill it. Just unrelated crap which no one had ever mentioned, over all the years. Not much relevance to anything and trekkers do like a consistent universe.
Something I really want this game to have.

I prefered DS9 also, it wasnt perfect, hell, none of the StarTrek series were perfect.. I mean season 1 of TNG was AWFUL..lol But besides all of its faults I loved them all, even Enterprise. I miss trek, we need a new trek.. its been too long.

Believe it or not, I actually named my cat Neelix. It was during season 2 - way before Lt.Barkley made his first appearance.

I... don't think this is the appropriate place to discuss Star Trek, unless it somehow ties into the Elite universe.

There are two suggestions I would make.

Get rid of the holodeck. It's just a lame excuse for sloppy writing.

Employ some writers that can actually write.

Send a time traveller back in time to exterminate the entire Vulcan race.

I was also thinking about the kind of ship you'd like to actually be on and live on rather than the TV show. If I was on Voyager, those characters would all drive me mental to varying degrees. In order of annoyance, starting with the most, it's:

Want to attack him for being a total annoying: Chakotey
Want to shut him up all of the time and relentlessly beat him with a wet haddock until he's silent annoying: Neelix
Rolling my eyes, bores the **** off me, is frequently irritating annoying: Janeway
Cold, anti-social party pooper, mildly annoying: Tuvok

I think some of the other characters have annoying habits too but they're tolerable.

The only issue I have with Voayager, which I prefer over TNG, is the episode where they break the warp barrier and go faster than warp 10. This allows them to go anywhere in the universe, but it also turns them into lizards. They go back to where they were to find Janeway and Tom Paris, and after the Doctor cures them, they decide never to do that again.

HELLO? You could have gone anywhere? why not go back to Earth, have the doctor cure you and then you're home AND you have the warp 10 thing to tell the Federation about.

Yes yes, I understand that would have ended the whole thing, but it's a plot hole that was never explained, and if it was, I missed it.

EDIT: Oh and I nearly forgot .... SHUT UP WESLEY! :D
