Patch V 1.4 Release Date

Going by past experiences... roughly 4-6 weeks after it's announced, and after 1 week of beta testing - after which it'll still be full of bugs that were reported by the testers and will remain unfixed until version 1.4.27 or something. Don't get too excited yet, it's not likely to be anytime in the next few days.

It just won't matter.
It will be fun however, to be able to take a break from the void and test out a few new ships without actually having to fly back to the bubble.
How long before the PC crowd asks to be able to keep all they earn beta testing now that they are about to set a precedent with the Xbox crowd?

They did? You're kidding? You'd think they'd have learned not to do things like that by now, or to at least expect outrage from the peasants when they do! That's what I love about this game, there's always something new to complain about.

And you love to complain.
The PC crowd ALREADY got to keep all they earned testing when they didn't wipe the gamma build progress so its only fair that the Xbox crew get to do the same on first release.
Gamma was more a numbers of people test than a beta bug test so it was just extra play time.

It's only the recent beta test where the CMDR's status was copied to the beta but it was old by the time the beta was started.
For the beta progress to be kept the save position must be seamless, which might not be possible.

For me, what's done in beta stays in beta. It's a chance for me to try new ships and do things I haven't done yet in the real game.
