I expected the buggy (or some other sort of car) coz there had to be something to DO on the planets which means you need a way to get around, and we knew we weren't getting 1st/3rd person yet. Crafting, bases and the Cobra Mk4 I didn't expect. Happy about them though. Finally some new content.

It really is a bargain if it delivers 50% of the promises made in the last thirty minutes :p I'm not a lifetime subscriber, and don't regret the decision to forgo it a bit: I like to vote with my wallet, and FD will have my vote this time!

Having said that, I hope they won't abanding vanilla game, and will flesh out mining and some other mechanics.

Amazing wonderful news!!

One problem: my Existing Player £10 discount isn't being applied on the Frontier Store. I'm logged into my account, shows my previous orders so I'm logged in correctly.

But it still says £39.99 even when I get to the point of about to click Confirm in PayPal.

Should I wait first for this to be fixed?

So I'm a bit confused on the whole "Season" thing.

When we purchase Horizons for the 45 USD price, we not only get Planetary Landings but we also get all other major updates (like 1.2 Wings, 1.3 PP, etc. with the original game purchase) for this "second" season? How long do seasons last? If I buy the Horizons Beta, does that mean I have beta access for that season only?

Sorry if this belongs in another thread.

it'll end up like everything else with ED - the first few weeks it'll be ooohshiny syndrome but then when you actually spend some time with it you'll realise that there's not much substance in it at all.

I hope I'm proved wrong but even now, the old mile wide, inch deep still applies.

FD seriously need to add some meaningful content to fill their universe.
There won't be much difference in the experience in exploring the same tired procedurally generated surface v procedurally generated different coloured ball floating in space.

I assume we'd still get updates before Horizons. eg: We'll surely be getting V1.5 with all those long overdue core gameplay enhancements :)

And surely Horizons will be a separate bolt on... So even next year, enhancements/fixes to the core game will still be released to non-Horizons players?

Indeed, the core game needs a huge lump of TLC! More general space content. Improved profession mechanics. More content for exploration. Far more interesting missions. Better (long term) NPCs... Etc...

All long overdue, and worryingly little or no mention of improving them from Frontier :(

My guess is a year's worth of content. Similar to the base game being about 1 year old when PL comes out

Michael has already said the mission system is getting another overhaul in 1.4
