It should cost 20$ max for those, who already have game... Lifetime expansion pass for 200$. No, thanks. That's half of my month salary in Russia. I'am dissapointed. Why they didn't say from begining, that each dlc will cost same price as base game. Personaly i will wait next steam summer selling prices. Even if in FD cost will be the same. They don't have right to milk their core gamers base.
And thats DLC still be infinity grinding.

It's not actually a DLC it's an expansion. They never said it would be this much because I'm sure they didn't know, but I also can't help wondering how much of it might be to do with the fact that they released on Steam and now that they were badgered into making Steam Keys available to all existing owners (which they had to pay for), that anyone who linked their accounts with Steam, means that Steam get a 30% cut of ALL sales on the FD store. Including the expansions and Lifetime Passes.

Edit: and then Pecisk proves me wrong that they did say it :D

I think for those that buy the expansion pass at £130 but do not have beta access, instead of having to buy the EDH again to get the beta access, there should be a separate beta access pass for £10 (same as the difference between EDH expansions) available to those buyers

I'm seeing a number of backers, kickstarters and beta'ers saying this now. perhaps we should start a thread "Im a backer/Kickstarter with Standard beta and Lifetime Expansion. and would like to join the EDH:Beta", kind of a sign up form for all those interested in this so Frontier can see the people interested...

They never said, that each dlc will cost like base game. I was ready for some 10-20$ per year. But this...

Nope, they said it since Kickstarter, end of 2012. When people asked to be clarified about expansion pass costing 35 pounds, FD explained that they believe expansions when released will cost as full game.

Please keep yourself informed :)

Great news on EDH but...

  1. It's great to see the expansion pass come back, how long will it be available for? Until November? September? One week? - A rough end date for the offer would be appreciated!
  2. As a Beta Player that joined August 2014 for £50, do I retain access to all future beta's (when purchasing said Lifetime Pass)?

good idea, a poll to see how viable a £10 beta pass will be, you do it, i'll follow.
But only for the people buying the £130 lifetime.

It will be interesting to see how transition from orbital to atmospheric flight is handled - if it is seamless then those with Horizons will simply go past the yellow "keep out" line and descend to the surface whereas those without will presumably be stopped from approaching any closer to the planet's surface.

I suppose it will work with the "exclusion zone" effect which you see, for example, when trying to get too close to a black hole (I tried ;)). The ship simply stops hits an invisible wall (no collision damage) and you get an corresponding message in the HUD. As for those who can land, I guess the FSD will be utilized all the way down.

Presumably, you will still drop out of Super Cruise, and proceed on thrusters.

As for the above: I would not be at all surprised if you had to get a module of some sort to allow planetary landings, and only players who have E: D: H are allowed to get the module.

There are a variety of way they could do the travel mode transition stuff. Anything from us is just speculation. Dropping out of Supercruise to land on an airless moon will presumably be the same as dropping out for a spaceport. WHich is one reason why it is easier, and is 'all' we get in the first phase. For planets with atmosphere, it has to be different. The slowest speed for SC is still much higher than the fastest speed for normal flight, if we assume that that is how we land. So what's in between? It could be a cut scene (though I think I saw the 'seamless' word from FD somewhere). It could be another travel mode ('Atmospheric traversal') where the ship gets hot, the pilot has trouble steering, and you emerge into regular flight. Somewhat Space Shuttle-like. That would have (at least) two seams.

It was stated years ago, back in the kickstarter, that there would be free upgrades and paid expansions. I don't think I ever saw FD say what the price of the expansions would be, but I did see them say that expansions would be 'big' - full game sized. So I fully expected the price to be about what it is.

So now all the cry babies will be shouting at FD "I couldn't finish him off because he flew down to a planet, Ban them now FD BAN THEM NOW!!" ;)

They may possibly extend the 'no log out timer in combat' to include no landing in combat.
I would assume they would have some system to prevent this unless they leave it to encourage sales

That's a relief - not a PS4 jump'n run after all :).

Heh heh. I see what you did there. I think NMS will come to the PC too, that will be a glorious day too, that game looks amazing. When that happens I'm buying a PC kitted out solely with the mind to run both EDH and NMS at the best possible settings

As utterly awesome as this obviously is, when will we get the ability to take passengers & live animal cargo? Seriously, that's what I am most hanging out for right now ;-).

I like the new Horizons logo much more than the original ED logo that's for sure!

From the FAQ https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=164

I have the Standard Beta version of Elite: Dangerous, what do I get?
Elite Dangerous: Horizons is a brand new set of expansions for Elite: Dangerous but is not included in the standard beta package. You can purchase beta access to Elite Dangerous: Horizons on the Frontier Store if you'd like to help us test it!

Actually I think Michael Brookes explained earlier inthe thread, Lifetime Expansion entitles you to the Horizons RELEASE, not the BETA.

He did :

Okay, I read that differently first time.
However, it totally contradicts the support FAQ so if that is the case, they need to get their act together.
Frankly if you pay for the Lifetime Expansion Pass then you should get Beta access, as otherwise you would have to buy the expansion + Beta access which obviously makes no sense.
