System to system autopilot module

Auto pilot

I have been playing on the Xbox one for a couple of weeks and enjoying it a lot so far. I have tried a little bit of everything and just recently while trying out trading I though, what if there was an auto pilot module. You lock in a destination or plot a course and the module takes it from there. Would be good for traders and deep space explorers.

I'm sure Sirius and other corporations have made and tested autopilot modules before.

I'm also sure that every commander who's done long-term testing has eventually felt his ship dropping out of supercruise and then being shot to pieces around him by a Competent pirate in an Eagle... while he sat helplessly on the can.

If you think about it a bit more. You will realise that you are asking for a "Win" button. Press it and you become Elite.

Please. please, please we really need an autopilot in game. Of course no one will camp some systems in the hope to destroy afk travelers :D

You dont "win" anything in Elite as far as I remember ;)

As far as autopilot is concerned - we already have docking autopilot - some use it some don't. I really don't see the problem for more lazy commanders to have a travel autopilot too. Let's be honest - we travel in a straight line mostly, you cant really "dump" this down. Automatic interdiction avoider - now that would be stupid but simple plot course autopilot - why not? I wouldnt use it but it would not bother me is someone else do.

Seriously OP, use the search feature. This has been discussed to death many times. Very VERY unlikely to happen as the pilotting is 90% of the game and an autopilot will kill that.

Yes pressing J (or xbox equiv.) and pointing in a certain direction is such fun. I think an AP that only works in systems you've already navigated through would be a nice option.

Some of the justifications people come up with amaze me. No, we argue with you coz we disagree, not because we have a psychopathic need to shoot your ideas down.

Auto docking, auto supercruise, auto fighting and auto trading :D If you just want to watch someone playing ED you can watch some streams or youtube videos :D

Through all the discussions about autopilot no one ever explained to me why this is so menacing and game killing for everyone. ]
People are alt tabbing super cruise anyway - if they want to make the game even more boring for them self - be my guest - let them, what do you all care how someone else playing the game?
I dont like the auto docking feature for example because to me docking if fun - but if someone want to use it - sure. Go ahead - its your game.

also - pls merge :)
