PvP players also have Google and a Keyboard but I'm still having to link all the design info on the modes.

Also, there is no listing in game for types of groups.
Of course, I could always move to a busy area in Solo then swap to open and spam chat, letting people know.
After all, what is an MMO without chat spam

I only get irascible with people who like to imply that there is anything wrong with anybody's choice in play style and insinuate that this is somehow indicative of their moral character or capability as a person as a whole. Quite simply put: None of you are qualified to judge anyone based solely upon how they play a video game no matter what sort of horrible first world problems it may give you an illusion of inflicting upon you. When you start going off the deep end, I will call you on it every time.

Here is another novel idea, Open is not PvP only. The only reason Mobius exists is because instead of players choosing to actively support their own style of play they chose to hide from any potential problems and pretend they don't exist. That is purely a personal problem created by the PvE community, who vastly outnumbers the PvP community, entirely through their own free will.

They made a choice.

It is funny how the PvPers say we don't need an official PvE mode, but crash the PvE group and player kill in it - then cry when it becomes the backbone of why and official solution is called for. Well, FD said there is no right way to play, and as PvPers can force their play style on others - they need to come up with something, as I'm not spending another penny until they do.

Well obviously in a pirate roll, the key driver is profit. Abandoned are worth more than jettisoned, which is worth less than their ship rebuy. Simple economics.

I was referring to them learning how to fight against things other than simple AI bots.

So thats Cmdr Majinvash, mostly flying this week in an FDL but other flavours are available.

That's "all" they have to do, but are they willing to do it? How long are you going to wait patiently before deciding that FD has no interest in providing Open PvE?

5 months and 1100 posts, and not a single Developer post.

I guess you are in agreement that solo vs open vs groups won't change then too (~22,000 posts) no dev posts, guilds (well guilds & space stations anyway with both iterations) is over 10k without a dev post too, maybe we will be agreeing about something soon, seems no change with guilds too.

Actually scrub that (I was about to hit post) we actually have dev posts saying that they are not going to change the modes and no guilds right now, I have not yet seen a dev post that says "no PVE mode".

The chap who said FD couldn't run it as well as Mobius did make me think TBH, but I still think they could. A tick box that says:

I agree that if I kill a CMDR outside of a warzone, who must be an enemy (can't switch to PK etc) and...

1st infraction, fine of 25% net worth and 6 month ban.
2nd infraction, fine of 50% net worth and life ban.

Add 100% insurance & keep data or bonds for the victim and its a done deal. FD have all the data to see what happened.

The only issue I see is too many "prey" will choose it (PVE mode).

I keep changing my mind since it was suggested Mobius will always do it better than FD would.
Every time I come into the thread now, I'm not sure if I want FD doing it, or just better support for Mobius doing it.

But either way, it needs to be advertised in game, on the menu screen and/or on the in game billboards.

For now offered on the mode screen is good, and work towards better

There should be no sacrifice, both should coexist. Gives people a chance to "Beta" the new PVE mode.

I have a sneaking suspicion the reason this thread exists is due to Mobius lacking members online to play with. And, if that is the case, and there are also less members online in open, well, it points to the problem not being a lack of PvE mode or open monsters murdering people--but a content issue with the game itself.

Thus, Open needs to stay as is and the developers need to figure out a way to lure players into the game.

Why are some people so worried about clear and transparent choices in the start menu? the only place every player had to visit (unlike forums)?

I don't know, I think they've been fairly clear why they want FD to undertake an Open PvE mode. In fact, it seems like a pretty reasonable request, since they provide an Open PvP mode...

So what are the reasons you won't share for not wanting an official Open PvE mode?

so.. four Mobius members who feel it is right for people to find PVE server as easily as people can find the PVP one have nefarious reasons.... ok.. paranoia much? Original OP here. I assure you this thread's motives are as simple and as straightforward as post #1 would suggest: Möbius the player is a single point of failure for a play style enjoyed by (now tens of) thousands of players -- and that's scary and bad design.

Ten thousand players is such a pittance of players in proportion to the entire game. It is hardly enough to warrant a new game mode. Sorry. You are more than welcome to come play in open and play the game how you'd like to play--after all, Elite has done a fine job so far giving us all the options they said they would.

If that is so.. I guess all the solo and group players means open should shut down.. I mean it is such a pittance of players... ^.^
