Well im looking to upgrade to one of the above any suggestions?
What do you want to use it for? I hope combat, otherwise the Python is always the better choice.Well im looking to upgrade to one of the above any suggestions?

I have flown both extensively in combat and like them both. In the end, I settled with the Python and parked the FDL for now. The Python is more sturdy (2 SCB) in a conflict zone. FDL is quite fun at bounty hunting in RES, as it can "jump" from target to target more quickly.
Reposting from an old, similar thread:
Python is a space Volvo, with all the positive and negative connotations that come with that label. Even from behind, they look somewhat similar. You can make the Python a 284 trader, and still have pretty hefty shields.
The Fer-de-Lance is like an Italian sports car, and the styling of ZPG ships are like the classic space-planes of the early years of Space travel, and have pretty nice interiors too.
If you could liken space travel to the human body, Faulcon deLacy is the brain, Gutamaya is the face, Lakon is the stomach but Zorgon Peterson is the heart and soul.
You have to compare with civilian cars rather than fantasy things like the Batmobile (which is what the QUEST would be, not the Python). No good sir, just no.
A better analogy is the Python outfitted for combat is Christopher Nolan's Batmobile 'Tumbler'. Its a tank with decent movement that can soak up damage and deal out a massive punch. And it is difficult to mass lock since the Anaconda is too slow and most other ships too small.
Yes ...the Fer-de-Lance is an Italian sports car. Insanely fast, nimble, fun ....and horribly impractical with the tendency to set itself on fire, just like the best Lamborghini's and Ferrari's
I just got done flying one for a few days and I'm out ....the constant module management and fiddling with settings gets tedious to me, as does the constant need to fine tune and purpose build, finding stations on the fly to switch things up for every single slight change.
It really is a 'flyers ship' for those that enjoy manually fiddling, tweaking and balancing ....nothing wrong with that.
But I'm back to the Python where I simply run that gigantic A class powerplant and then load everything in their with combat gear all at once, including exploration equipment and 128 ton cargo hold ...and can leave everything turned on at the same time![]()

Yes, the FdL really is the 'flyers' ship', an Italian sports car, with all of the drawbacks.
But your reason for going back to the Python shows exactly why it is a Volvo.
