The content that's been in the game hasn't been added to but only limited to stretch out play times to grind-fest levels. The most recent, and annoying of which, is the limitation of combat missions to combat rank (or how much you've farmed in credit count) and then that rank is limited again by the spawn limitation on RES Sites. It's just maddening. There isn't enough content to even warrant the $40 that the game initially costs. Are you seriously saying that this season's big expansion was the most basic form of multiplayer interaction? That's a joke. Don't try to tell me that "I just haven't experienced the universe enough" when I'm sitting in a 250 mil credit python, there just isn't any content and I'm livid that I'll have to pay even more for for a dune-buggy upgrade simulator so I can wonder around entire planets of sand.

What do you do then.... when you are sat in your ...em 250 Million Cr Python ?

I find plenty to do every day, sometimes, for hours and hours between watching and doing other "stuff". I can interact with a large group of like minded people on VOIP. The size of the ship I fly is not a factor.

Read rivers of dross on the forum.... just loads of "stuff" :)

250 mil, not 250. There's an astronomical difference in the level of even 50 mil to 100 mil in earned credits whether bounty hunting or trading. I simply used the amount of assets to display how much time I invested into this game. As for the "plenty to do every day, sometimes, for hours and hours" I simply don't believe it. You may be doing the same thing repeatedly for hours and hours, but that's not variation. It's grind till you can upgrade your ship, then do it again. If you think otherwise, you're lying to yourself.

So OP you told us they would do exactly what they said they would do a year ago interesting.
Perhaps you just knew they were going to do this cause they actually said this is what will happen.
I'm not bored with this game with my python or my conda. Ship size doesnt matter. I still pick up my cobra and fly it.

Atmospheric landing is alot more details then that of airless landing. However its a start. Also they now have a driving model which was more then I expected.
This is a pointless thread.

Put it right for you... yup ... believe it.... I Mine, Bounty Hunt, PP merit gain...., CG, Trade a little... chat on TS, change ship load outs... just a few examples of "stuff". Now .... it's down to you... I can't help you to help yourself

FD always said planetary landings would be out after a year and it would start in rocky airless planets and moons. they delivered on time and exactly as promised. So there's absolutely no reason to doubt that atmospheric flights and living worlds will also be delivered in due time. It just takes a lot more time to implement than the airless, rocky version. But it will come.

As for Star Citizens and No Man Sky hurricanes... NMS is no hurricane at all, at most a dog's fart... It looks ridiculous, has absolutely not pretension of realism of any kind, its a cartoonish hello kitty version of a space sim.

SC can be indeed a Hurricane, if they delived what they promised, and when its working and finished. I suspect its still a very long way in the future, but meanwhile have fun buying very expensive "ships" to see in a hangar.

Dear FDev: A year ago I purchased one of your Mars bars. I liked the look of the wrapper, the ingredient list looked appealing and I tore it open and ate it.
-
Over the course of the year I have continued to enjoy your Mars bars, but now the enjoyment is fading. Every wrapper looks the same, every bar tastes the same.
-
Also, your proposed new Mars bar Duo is not what I expected. I wanted one milk, one dark chocolate, with a different logo on the wrapper. Instead it is only the same wrapper made a bit longer with 2 milk chocolate bars inside.
-
I am not going to buy any more of your Mars bars and will now try and persuade everyone else that they should stop enjoying your product, simply because I no longer enjoy it. I may even pre-order a Snickers and tell everyone how great the peanuts in it are going to be once they go into production.

I am certainly no fanboy, i have complained a lot about some aspects of ED, but even i realise why it's not atmospheric planets just now, yes it will need lots more work to create the weather and content ect, so why not start off with airless planets/moons, get that working first and then expand from there, and yes most likely another paid expansion to pay the bills too.

I pledged to SC too, i love the idea of that game, and i really hope it happens one day, but to be honest, at the moment the flight model is horrible and twitchy movement, and same for the FPS, even in the latest video, movement is twitchy and not smooth at all. (not even as good as some games already)

I think this is one thing ED are doing right, get it right, get it realistic, get it working smoothly, then release it. I am happy to wait until then for living worlds too.

Edit: just now i am glad i only invested £20 in SC.

Dear Consumer

Sorry to hear that you find our product somewhat lacking. We are currently working on a "Trio" variety... due out in time for the "holidays"

However if you do decide to take up the Snickers and try the peanuts... remember..... it's still chocolate

Best wishes

While ED may need improvement in areas, it's a very well polished enjoyable game. I find it funny when people make threads trying to compare it to SC (not even close to being released) and no man's sky (cartooning looking and clearly aimed at a different demographic). Doesn't make any sense. By the time SC actually releases the hurricane will probably feel like an average rainy day.

The "hurricane of SC"? More like the most expensive wet fart in the universe!

I really do hope the best for Star Citizen. Computers do no come with a toggle switch marked "Elite" and "Star Citizen". People who enjoy Star Citizen are likely to try other space games as well. If they find Chris Robert's flight model tedious then it might put them off Elite even before they've played it.

Had planetary landings on pretty much anything back in the classic game. Math/procedure/algorhythms is there. Making it look good and varied enough is the hard part, I reckon.

And things 'to do' ... hm ... RL gives me enough 'to do' ... so I've found a nice use for ED.

Turn down their soundtrack, lay on me own ( dub/chill/ambient/trance dependin on mood) and go coasting a few systems...

A zen garden called milky way :)

I like how "planetary landings" consist of asteroids and no atmosphere planets. Reason, they dont have the resources to do it any other way. Cant make a new flight system for atmospheric flight. Cant do true procedural generation. And its not due to a lack of skill, but a lack of funding. Well, you fanboys wanted it so bad, here it is. Enjoy a half baked expansion whil bugs a year old still persist and the universe is bland and barren. ED had one chance to weather the two incoming hurricanes of SC and NMS, and that was to fit a niche and not tryin g to compete. I loved ED untill I ran out of things to do. Props to Braben and co for making a fun game. But now i must mourn the dangerous.

They said since the beginning of the kickstarter that planetary landings would start in planets without atmosphere.

The rest will come in later expansions. If they did it all in the same expansions THEN it would be half backed because it would need: weather, cities, people, animals, plants, water etc etc etc...

NMS will have everything half-baked with no realism whatsoever. SC will have a few selected spots to land, and the game will still take years to complete, who knows how many Elite expansions will be out by then.

Told you so.

OP is exactly right!

Frontier told us so.

Of course, OP pulls a fast one, and attempts to present various original FD kickstarter-era paragraphs in a negative light, by reworking them as accusations of business incompetence.

Sheer genius!

And no, I'm not going to bother juxtaposing every ham-fisted, hyperbolic, accusatory sentence against original KS texts. OP's post is right there, as is all the kickstarter information. It's all available for perusal. And this time, I honestly can't be bothered. :)
