UA Mystery Thread 3: The Canonn

Well, if you check the Wiki, it is explained how you can find one.

Currently our focus is on the Pleiades since we have found the UA freely floating in a SSS at the HR 1185 system. So just head over there and jump in every SSS you see.
Warning, the job is a bit boring, since the SSS doesn't show up very often, so it takes quite a while.
Also, it is not yet clear if HR 1185 is in any way special, so we should really be scanning the surrounding systems as well.

Have you compared the properties of the systems where the UAs have been found? Any simimlarities?

Btw, what ship and which loadout should I have to hunt UAs? Since they also appear in military transports I assume a cargo scanner and some guns would be useful?

The UA in the SSS near the Pleiades are 'new' in that they are found as salvage. Inside the human bubble, we have only found them in transports. See the three types mentioned on the Wiki.
For the SSS hunt in the Pleiades, basically any type of explorer will do. I have yet to find any really dangerous SSS, no Gold traps, etc... You want the jumprange to get here. Oh, and bring an AFMU and cargo rack if you plan to scoop the UA. ;)

So do you think a DBS would do? Or maybe a Viper? :D

If solo then Python is good, convoy will consist of 1 T-9 + 2/3 conda escorts and a drop ship with 3 vulture.
First wait for drop ship and vultures to jump out (takes about 5 min) then open fire on t-9 and drop shields.
Use hatch breakers to start dropping cargo from t-9 whilst taking fire from condas.
repeat until UA drops then go in for scoop still taking fire from condas.
SBC's and hatch breakers are vital for this technique chaff can be useful too ;)
anything you can stay alive in for several minutes whilst taking fire from condas will do, also staying out of 3km range helps

Been about a million years since I last posted on the forums, but this topic intrigues me. I quite recently became aware of it and have looked through the wiki and read a few posts, but have probably still missed a lot of things.

I do have a few questions and forgive me if they have already been answered elsewhere but even just the wiki has enough information that going through it all makes my eyes glaze over on a couple occasions.

Anyway, what I am curious about is if anyone has done the following:

1. Worked out where the convoys are delivering the artefacts. Has anyone just not try to take it from them but just tailing them to see where they go and track their movements?

2. Keep it in the hold combined with various materials. I have seen tests of it floating in space together with a bunch of materials, but has anyone tried to keep those things in the hold together with the artefact and see if it changes its behavior? One specific thought I had is perhaps systems are degrading because it is trying to install itself as a module, but is not finding the correct materials it needs. I'm thinking keeping it together with a bunch of those sap 8 core containers and hafnium 178 and maybe an AI relic for good measure and see if there is a difference in the decay rate of systems, or if materials are disappearing from the hold.

3. Let it finish cannibalizing the ship. Has anyone tested to see what happens if they just leave it in their hold until their ship is destroyed? perhaps combine this with the materials mentioned in the number 2 in the list.

So those are my thoughts on it for now. I have joined in the search too but so far come up empty. I'm thinking I'll get back to it.

If you are going to the Pleiades, take a DBE, DBS might work as well. A Viper has a low jump range and you can only equip four items (and I'd want to take at least: Shield, Cargo rack, AFMU, ADS and DDS).

If you want to remain in populated space, you'd need something tougher to take on a convoy, a wing would be preferable.

im now at the orion neubula and realised that the stars we know as orion are not there...

alnitak is 500ly in my back, direction home. O9
alnilam / HIP 26311 is 700ly further but route unavailable. system has a BH
mintaka / HIP 25930 500ly in my back, also BH

1 and 3 should have signal sources due to proximity of human space. and they are at "the outer rim"...

so that 1 day account pointed to the BHs?!

im going to alnilam first, then heading back.

Thanks for the headsup on their ingame names,
wanted to check 'em out a while ago.

Edit:
I think they are too far off, to have a chance of hosting a UA.
But they are worth the trip vista wise;)

So the UA decays over time. WHat happens when it reaches 1% or 0%? In a video we see a kind of explosion without the UA being destroyed. Anyone knows something about it?

Btw, I was thinking... has anyone yet tried a Frame Shift Wake Scanner on the UA?

I mean, it could be that simple:

image.jpg

Frame Shift Wake = Unknown Artefact

Scan it with a Frame Shift Wake Scanner and get sent to where it's calling to send you to...

So what happened to the discovery that there are two types of UA?

Is there a clear guide somewhere about these in game groups and friend lists and sending a PM to Canonn? I don't really get what's happening there and I think more people are wondering.

Aye I just see no reason to differentiate between someone who's in Nova Fleet and someone who isn't. I just think such arbitrary divisions are completely irrelevant and don't help.

I dunno man, even the above, we're gonna discuss on our private forums, we have some people in HR1185 but I'm not saying any more.

Ok great, thanks. Why we all can't keep it open I don't know. Groups man, it's all secrets and powerplay. =(
I explained myself wrong, I can't tell anything else because there is nothing else.

We discuss it i our forum because it's a project to put together various wings of the Fleet and organise them in a single operation, also, some people might get in our forum before in this one, but even in the thread I made in our forum, I recommend coming to this thread.

Well, as long as you share your findings, the more the merrier. We're all scientists, right? At least, it says so on this lab-coat I stole. ;)

Would it make you feel any better if i told you that I don't really know whats going on half the time? :D

PM Derthek to join up if you like as there will be some PM mailer updates of some sort, we are trying to organize a little, work in progress but wont be long now. :)

I like this idea. I'm guessing people have already tried to scan it with everything and I expect it doesn't actually let itself be scanned, but someone should put every type of scanner that exists in the game in one fire group and target the artefact with it and see if anything takes. Just in case.

Count on it, we'll share every bit of information we get (tho that might not be quite a lot of info :D )

To let you know how we are organising, it's pretty simple, I copy from the thread in our forum:

There are two groups, hunters (official title is UA Seekers) and testers.

The UA Seekers are people actively hunting the Unknown Atefacts while the testers are people holding an Artefact and performing tests.

Due to the nature of the UA and the need to stay on top of all thories and undone tests, testers should be people with more time to play and check the forums.

Our current rosters are these:

UA Seekers

  1. CMDR Alonso - The GotyMan
  2. CMDR NanoChichi - NanoChichi
  3. Altheaus1 - Altheaus 1

Testers/People willing to be testers

  1. CMDR Alonso - The GotyMan - Not in possession of an UA yet
