So? That's why I backed SC.

Because Chris Roberts is not settling for the second best or third best (or even seventh best) option just to meet a deadline. To increase profits.

Because he's striving for the best.

Reassuring article.
If you want quick satisfaction, look somewhere else. SC is not for you. I heard a new CoD comes out once a year.

Well if the actual gameplay is an indicator I don't think its going to deliver.

Exactly this. If you want to see what a barebones launch looks like, well. We're all seeing that with ED. You know, the whole paper thin but a mile wide analogy.

I backed both projects and enjoy them both, but SC, hopefully, will be something truly special in terms of games. While ED is nice, it isn't really special.

You know, most developpers are crazy about their games / projects and want them to be the best. CR isn't the only perfectionnist out there.

I don't see how CIG is different from Frontier or Bungie in this regard? If you talk about the way the game has been funded then maybe you have a point.

People that think Star Citizen is taking a long time don't really know what developing groundbreaking games is all about:

And this picture it's very adequate because we could say that Star Citizen is bringing more details and mechanics to the game scope than all those les together!

Tabula Rasa went though 7 years of dev. Then they scrapped it and went with a new build for 3 years. Then 6 months of beta and 11 months after launch NcSoft kills it.

I haven't paid much attention to star citizen but what is the flight model like? I'm pretty dedicated to Elite at the moment but I'll probably check SC out when it consists of more than dog fights.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

It's a work in progress. Some people detest it right now and others enjoy it. :)

Me - I have fun playing Arena Commander (the current 'battle arena' mode that's playable).

One thing that people tend to not do (which would help I think) is adjust the curves of their HOTAS/stick. The deadzone and curves 'out of the box' need adjustment.

Ya I have the curves and deadzones configured on my x55 for dcs world, happens to also work nicely for elite but if I do buy into SC I'll keep that in mind. Cheers.

Lol that sounds awful. Think I'll pass :p

It's not that bad :D

It's heavily biased towards mousers at the moment though. There has been some mention of "controller balance" especially as they are apparently releasing their own-branded HOTAS, but I've not seen that implemented yet.

I haven't played Arena Commander for quite a while, but the best way I could describe the flight model is it felt like flying a school bus that was half filled with water. (someone else on the SC forums came up with that, but it's the best analogy for the way it felt to me)
It was a constant over-compensation battle. Granted, this was back in version 0.8 of AC, so I don't know if it's changed much.

I decided a back then that I was just going to forget about it until the final game was released, hoping then it would be more polished.
To be honest, I doubt that will happen before ED season 3 is released. Not a SC hater, but I just think CR and team have bitten off way more than they can chew. The scope of that whole project is just nuts.

Dont know i did watch some videos on yt but was not really impressed from what i saw. Basicly you get some playable demos with fancy grafics but no real content. The Arena Commander i watched that swarm thing. There is a lot stuff around to make the game look good, but fly in some ateroid field RES in Elite and you will get almost the same.
Cant really understand ppl that throw money on the game still. I would not wonder if the game isnt finished end of 2016.
Would be nice to see what will be Elite at that time.
I think SC will be more some kind of 1st person shooter, while Elite is more a flight simulator.

Dont know if i would buy SC when it finally comes out, seems not to fit my playingstyle.

Except that chart is wrong because its missing the year CR (from his one statements, he also put in over $1million of his own money) put in before the kickstarter, so really its 3y 7mo. Or do you think they came up with that vid and "demo" instantly.

Better graph.

"Why Star Citizen is Taking So Long"
http://kotaku.com/why-star-citizen-is-taking-so-long-1724835913

Interesting piece about the development of SC, with some 'unnamed' former employees of CIG weighing in.
What I find most interesting with that article is how they twist the truth to fit their own agenda. Kotaku, that is. The article is full of rethoric nonsense. For instance they write "He’s also publicly declared that the ever-expanding feature creep is a good thing," and then they quote something CR said in a letter on RSI. Only the quote doesn't say anything about feature creep! In fact, CR has said many times why SC isn't feature creep. So Kotaku ignores that and claims CR admits feature creep ... Really? You see where this is going. Kotaku has always had their own agenda with SC and it's easy to spot in their articles. They certainly don't fool me with their cheap amateurish rethoric tricks.

If you listen to him you'll never get any good advise about SC. I suggest you try it yourself instead of asking in this thread.
