Basically, jumped in system, headed towards the black hole, was nearly there (50ls out or so) and saw an SSS.
Since I was going pretty fast, it took some time to get to the SSS. A WSS popped in just before I jumped into the SSS.
Currently heading to NGobe with the UA, willing to sacrifice Ernie in the name of science.

My experience in HR 1185 points at first SSS spawning not long after jumping in. I tried jumping out and in, and could get a SS within minutes. Not necessarily a UA source, mind you.

I had two on first entry relatively quickly as well. tried dropping out of SC and going back in while there, and sometimes that seemed to do the same.

I think it is indeed the region. At least, I don't know if HR 1172 has a black hole?
That would fit with the hint that they were only found in certain regions. Ernie is now safely docked in Ngobe.

Alright I'm going to go tinfoil hard on this. When you're hyperjumping into a system.... pay close attention to the hyperspace sequence. Make note if you see "frameshifted" contacts like you would in SC for other ships. Try to do this next time you're actively going to hunt for signal sources in a new system.

No, it doesn't - blue giant but no T Tauris and no black hole.

A propos of nothing, I'm in Lave and there is a lot of local news from August with various tie-ins to the Lave Revolution/Walden story line and mentioning several characters from the book. Nothing that seems to be UA-related, but it would seem that someone, perhaps even Allen Stroud, is busy setting the stage for something Walden-related.

Edit: Can bring some Lavian Brandy to the UA party also.

Edit: Some stuff from Kate Russell's book just appeared on the main Galnet also.

Many congratulations. Give my regards to 'little ern'. Hopefully someone will get Eric next and then we can bring them back together to bring us sunshine in their smiles.

I would just like to point out that the above lore I have listed was written by non other than The Braben and his friends personally. The similarities to the current story and finds is almost frightening. Because if we stuff this up we could be starting an intergalactic war all over again. Even worse from what I have perceived from the past lore and the current lore is that Elite Dangerous is not even about Us or the Thargoids. There is something worse coming. And I speculate the Thargoids know it and are actually trying to enlist mankinds help to fight it. Why else would a race proven to be Superior to us in almost every way not wipe us out when they had the chance. Because they need help fighting an even greater menace that's out there.

I like what you talk about cmdr... studying in the ingame lore of the Elite universe will pay off more than wikiing about mythologies...

On that note here are a list of the instruments found onboard Voyager Probe 1 = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyager_1#Scientific_instruments

Perhaps bringing the UA next to the Voyager Probe would enable them to communicate somehow, or perhaps the Voyager will help "translate" the sounds or hidden messages from the UA to the nearby CMDRs?

That means we need many together but not duplicates.
Only UA's are needed.
Needs to be done near Earth or a water world.

I also think the answer is at Earth or Sol.
Federation are the 1st contact I reckon, like the probes are looking for Earth or something.
Unless the Thargoids is looking for another species?
If they are trying to contact us, they know about Earth, it would make sense to reach us there, especially if Federation is involved.

If you can find the Voyager probes, please let everyone know. They're missing at the moment.
