Does the class of an FSD interdictor make any difference?

Just wondering. I had a B3 and after reading another thread discussing classes and grades, it seems it was inconclusive. A few said that the class matter most (e.g. A vs. D) than the grade. Someone said that higher grades (4A vs. 3A) reduce damages caused by getting out of super cruise.

Anybody else has first hand experience? I've been looking for the A3 FSD interdictor in any station that has outfitting but it seems elusive. Even Diaguandri doesn't have them.

Thanks!

As class and rating go up, range goes up. So a 2A will have longer range than a 2D, and a 3A will have longer range than a 2A. I think higher class / rating might also make the minigame more biased towards the aggressor, but I don't have definitive word on that. In my experience, a 2A will get the job done just fine. Outside of the minigame bugging out, I don't think I've ever failed to interdict an NPC or player with the 2A FSDI on my dropship.

Thanks guys. Well, I didn't want to take a chance so I finally found one in my trade route. I'm currently going to interdict some opposing powers. Will see how it goes with the new A3 FSDI.

EDIT: first interdiction attempt on a Type-7 failed! I was not even close. Hmmmm...

Did you have trouble keeping the target in the center of your screen?

A little bit, yes. It was a bit jerky at times. I'm wondering if the performance of the computer makes a big difference. It probably has some impact but not sure how big it is. I've seen a couple of times the interdictor interface becoming suddenly distorted and then jumping right and left a second or two. That's enough to throw you out.

However, after that failed attempt, I made 4 successful interdictions in a row, so maybe it was just a fluke...

I don't get the interdictor class and rating thing. I got the same amount of damage from interdicting in an anaconda from a 4A and a 5A one - I then tried a 2B one and it was again just the same. Maybe the range is a bit different but not enough to justify the huge price gaps.

Well, I still haven't seen any advantage between a class 2 and a class 3 for example, but I've been using a 3B for a while before I got that 3A yesterday. I can say the range is much better. I was able to start interdicting from farther away then the B grade. What I really don't know is whether a class 2 is the same as the class 3. But after a false start yesterday, the 3A worked wonders. Didn't lose a single interdiction after the first one.

As I said in my initial post, there was another thread wondering about whether higher classes were more efficient in any way but no clear conclusion was reached, hence why I posted another similar question. Still, I haven't read anything that would lead me to believe that a 3A is better than a 2A. A 3A has certainly a better range than a 3B. But other than that, the outfitting screen doesn't tell you anything and the only thing I read was from someone saying a dev had said there were no difference between a class 2 and a class 3, for example. Only grade matters.
