Guys I think this is our last hint and chance to solve it before frontier start showing the story to us......: https://community.elitedangerous.com/node/258

From what I read there, 1.4 will have something hidden in it to do with the UA which may be surfacing....also hasly's dissaperience doesn't have anything to do with the UA it seems......as it's a different storyline along with the imperial one.

I think it's now even more important to try and find an UA that isn't degrading and get loads of mass around it.

So I guess this is what's happening with VOyager..

ne of the changes in the CQC update allows us to place items for collection as part of scenarios in specific locations. As well as supporting new story options it allows us to create treasure hunts and similar activities. These won't necessarily be telegraphed and I'm quite looking forward to seeing how these evolve.

......

The changes coming for supporting the stories also have benefits elsewhere. One example of this is that there are new things for explorers to find while they are out in deep space. They won't pop up on the navigation system unless you're close enough.

Also the UA is mentioned briefly.

Sit Rep....I'm currently farming B Class stars in the inner core (approx. 2Kly from Sag A) nothing to report as of yet I'm sorry :(

Also I think this may be how the UA story line will procced further in 1.4 but.....how much time do we have before 1.4 comes out?

Oh and: "These won't necessarily be telegraphed and I'm quite looking forward to seeing how these evolve." I think they may have a trigger in game or something recording or waiting for something to happen which when it does, like alerts the staff about it and then they can rub their hands joyfully.

"the mystery for these is about to get deeper."

For me I'm reading "more depth" as being another level of the mystery to explore. :) \o/

Which would be really welcome IMHO, for me we are really lacking in coherent clues/story with them.

And of course, I can't talk about story without also mentioning the Unknown Artefacts - the mystery for these is about to get deeper. :)

He HAS to tease us ... i bet it's part of his job description.

But what we learn from this:

On another note: I wasn't able to get home today. Is anyone ingame and can make quick screenshots of all objects in HR 1185 and HR 1172 for me? :)

Except that theoretically that change isn't in yet, it's coming with 1.4. I just hope they are visible from more than 1000 Ls, otherwise the Voyagers will be all but impossible to find.

Beta is planned for the week of Aug 31. Usually beta is 1-2 weeks so I guess we have 3-4 weeks assuming that the beta leaves out any UA mystery related stuff.

I read that as stuff to find generally, not necessarily UA related. So perhaps more mysteries, perhaps just derelicts or whatever for explorers to find. But they're not necessarily going to tell us that something is out there to find.

It possible that they rip the code out they use to display the Voyagers so it can replace and updated with this new system in CQC.

Look like Frontier is gonna crack open the UA in the CQC release unless we get their first.

From the sound of it CQC will also be a major update to their ability to inject new stories into the game at will.

I don't mean why they were taken out, I mean how they will be put back in.

I have no idea why they stopped suddenly being in the game. But it looks pretty likely in 1.4 they will suddenly reappear albeit with a reduced detection range.

Maybe 250,000 Ls or something. Though the ADS would have to have it's scanning range reduced from it's current ∞ (which is just silly anyway).

Actually maybe ADS could receive its information over time, so scan, close objects appear immediately, further out ones a little bit longer.

Scan
new contact, new contact, new contact
new contact
..
new contact

new contact

new contact

Or maybe not, it might be really annoying for explorers

Spent a ton of time in HR1185 and surrounding systems yesterday nothing. Practically feel asleep at the controls... Will have to try looking at a few things later.

Interesting suggestion, certainly more realistic but would it just make exploring more annoying by slowing it down? That question is why I've grudgingly come to accept the ADS as it is despite my misgivings about the lack of realism and the fact it makes the basic DS and intermediate DS pointless as it's so cheap. The ADS feels overpowered in a way, but finding a distant second star manually is really only fun a couple of times, and without the ADS exploring is that much less rewarding.

I don't think it's certain that FD will reveal anything about the UA, they might just be saying they are adding to the mystery.

The update sounds quite promising anyway.

We were told by Kerresh that their was a time limit on this weeks ago. An I very much doubt Frontier would add even more content behind the UA puzzle. A puzzle we have been unable to solve for 3 months now.

Why? Deepening the mystery seems like the obvious thing to do. Evolve it and draw more and more people in.

I would say that yes.

When the next update happens, the ua part of the storyline will be completed whether we have solved it or not.

After the next update, the next part of the puzzle starts.

"Succeed or not it will unlock". Even if that does mean FD will just reveal everything if we don't figure it out, it doesn't actually say when. It could be 1.4 but equally it could be Horizons.

Maybe there is a region that the UA unlocks like a permit. Kerrash might just have been hinting that the region will unlock even if we don't figure it out, but that wouldn't necessarily mean that FD would reveal anything explicitly.
