Newcomer / Intro Beautiful wallpaper

Where can I have a beautiful wallpaper made. is there a place or do I just take a screenshot and put CMDR Shoshanna and the Elite Dangerous emblem on all manually?

There is a debug camera and with it you can take external shots that may or may not include your ship - you may need to go into your controls and set the key to activate it.

Once activated your ship is vulnerable until you return - press the same key to return.

You can then use you normal movement keys/controller to move the camera.

You can use the F10 key to capture a screen shot.

In solo Alt+F10 produces a high res screen shot.

Off the top of my head I cannot remember the location to where this screen shots get saved.

Then you can launch your own image editor and add your name and maybe you can download the elite image to insert as well.

Then you can create all the custom wallpaper you want :)

That's a lovely image!

If I may offer some constructive artistic criticism, you could probably squeeze the star, the limb of the planet and your Cobra in in greater detail if you use a program like GIMP to transform the image and crop it. If you care to post a link to the original image, I could show you what I mean.

Thank you! I will try to upload here.

I just have the bg with the ship, planet and the star and uploaded the Elite logo.

I tossed this off in ten minutes (which included instaling the Bladerunner font):

I used GIMP 2.8, which is totally free. Naturally, you can make much more impressive images if you have a good source image and take a lot more time.

Added the Elite logo:

Like I said, these are really basic images that take very little time to put together. I'm sure you can come up with something much better.

I never could get to grips with GIMP. I just got Adobe Photoshop CS2, which while it isnt free, there is no way to pay for it, so your own morals can decide WTH that means

Many Photoshop users say exactly the same thing! There is (or was, I haven't looked into it for ages) a plugin for GIMP called GIMPshop that makes its interface more similar to Photoshop's. I can't comment on its usefulness as I've never used it or, indeed, Photoshop.

It means that Adobe don't want your money ;)

Thank you very much, they are beautiful.

Just an aside - if you find GIMP too much (I do), try Paint.net - it's free and pretty straightforward to use.
