Gents, here's my first raw footage.
Voyager 2 - and a UA sound test.

I hope this is enough for you to start analyzing;
I'll stay here for a couple of days in case we need more testing.

What the hell is the morse chittering?! It seems SO short... It's almost impossible for me to decode the morse in my actual conditions: can someone morse-capable, please translate it? It seems one or two characters and no more... should be easy...

Hm. Bitstorm here thinks it just says SOL, and thats it.

I got a working SSS in the end. Regular gold trap.

Same as you, the NPCs headed into the star, leaving a low wake. After a while they come out.
No wonder one crashed with the station.

The strangest thing was the 'Frame shift drive online'
It was never offline.

Now that last line got me curious, not sure but might have had same thing, can't say for sure but I will head there again after work to confirm.....

If it wasn't offline, comes online, has something with the he fsd changed? Is sirius b not a star but something else?
I think that hauler I was trying to burn the drive down for fsd malfunctions which worked but no misfire, now has a target. Cheap disposable and might find what those sirius ships are up to :$

1. Used this video to find the general directions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpPYsYrGVIc
2. Stopped at 2 070 000 LS.
3. Kept SOL at my lefter shoulder, at level 90 degrees.
4. Kept 'looping' and boosting short stints and flew randomly until I was close enough.

1000LS

Great find!
What would it take to determine a bearing against the skybox from Sol to Voyager 2?
As in which star to target and fly towards for over 2 million ls?

Basicly as described above. The old video shows the pilot starting from Sol, so the general direction can be observed.
So when you are using the 'dot' on your hud, you can pinpoint the direction from the start of the video.
Then enjoy the trip, ~30 mins or so.

Next start flying in random 90 degree turns, but make sure you stay within the distance - you just narrow down the search this way.
And then hope for luck.
Mine took about 2 hours.

I'll be back online tomorrow, in the Mobious private group - sharing the location with Wing-request on demand.

I'm away for some more days so I can't help with this.
What might be good is to move around so Voyager 2 is in a direct line between your ship and Sol. Target Voyager 2, then flip 180° to put Voyager 2 directly behind you. Now choose stars on Galaxy Map until you have one almost exactly in front of you.

An alternative might be for someone to wing with you while next door to Sol itself, you drop a nav beacon, and they work through Galaxy Map until they hit a star that lines up with your beacon target.

The first theory could be tested just by getting the UA into that system and seeing what happens. The second theory isn't testable. It's dependant on waiting for a content update.

Did you need to use the discovery scanner or did it show up automatically on the nav panel? Did it show up as a target in the hud at the same time as the nav panel?

Is the above a glimpse at the future for finding Frontier's "hidden objects"

Head out and fly around randomly in an area where you have no concept of which bits you've already travelled to and there are no local landmarks whatsoever to take bearings from.

I can't wait. =(

I never thought I'd say this but I think I'd rather camp SSS spawns.

Damn, I'm going to be spending a lot of time just sitting out in open space staring at my Artefact now that I have one again.

Ah, memories

Great, I now have 2 bugged collector limpets that won't expire following me around picking up anything in the vicinity

I can't see any problems arising from this

collector limpets are generally regarded as less safe than manual scoop in terms of the best way to scoop a UA. I think others will back me up on this

Yes. SOL. I haven't any earphones so it was hard for me to decode it properly.
But it is SOL, obviously.

BTW, nothing to say about the sound: it's the usual one. BG sound noise (VID8), Howls, Purrs and chittering.

Are you sure it's Sol? Because if so then.....it's picking up the sun but not the probe...which could mean that it has a limited range like our scanners do......and so similar technological level?

Into which system? And I said reply to the post or pm me as this makes it more obivious that it's you replying to me and giving the details of the test. Also when you say see what's happens do you mean just go into the system and that's it test done? You must be specific!

Oh I never said they were, but I'll still keep them on me just in case. Also, the only reason they were deployed was that I accidentally had my collector fire group on.
