Most annoying planet type in the game...

Seriously, If I had a death star I'd blow it up! Anyone else get fooled by these every time?

Okay, rant over, back to jump, scan, jump, scan, jump, scan, scoop, jump on my way to Sag A*

:D

I completely agree! At least the one of the picture is near the star, I really hate when they are not in the main star but 625.000 ls away...

How did I get to be a Ranger having visited over 3000 systems before I knew this... I think I love you. ;)

Hehe, I was pretty far along before I found it as well - and it has saved me some disappointing 300k LS trips ;) Be sure to rep Masakari for his hard work :)

You can tell the difference by how well defined the green and blue boundaries are. On HMCPs, there is a steady gradient between green and blue hues. On ELWs, there is a more distinct borderline that hints at actual continents.

It's alright, I feel better now, I just stumbled upon this Earth like moon. I name it New Heaven, and it's planet New Hell. Made nice birdy noises in the system map and everything! :)

This. Also the blue is a lighter blue on ELW's and a darker blue on HM's.

Someone's being really paranoid about their first discovery bonus...:D

Too right I am! Sure, most of us in the explorer sub forum are kind, peaceful types, but space is a big place, full of knobheads who'd gladly fly 12,000ly just to pilfer someone else's first discovery credit/bonus!

Sad....but true. I dont even post pics until I have handed in the data.

By extension, wouldn't "friending" someone be a potential hazard, since other than solo, you could be seen on the galaxy map?
The other night, I saw (for the 1st time) 2 explorers on the map, both very far away, one was at the extreme "12 o'clock".
It was great to see I wasn't alone out there.
