Neutron star gravitational lensing

Greetings commanders,

Has anyone noticed the gravitational lensing around neutron stars?

Here is a pic I just took of the effect:

Oh, thanks, I haven't noticed the white dwarfs lensing. I haven't seen this mentioned in the exploration forum until now, apart from the obvious black hole lensing that everyone is aware of.

Yeah I just noticed that myself.

Frankly, I have never intentionally ventured closer to neutron stars than either where I've been dropped at them or where I supercruise to them and they begin scanning. Didn't think there was anything to see. Now I'm curious and will (safely) venture closer next time the background lends itself to showing the lensing effect.

I first noticed it when scanning the planets in a NS system - flying past the NS with the galaxy in the background as I was crossing the system. Tres cool.

Yes, and I've made use of it. While exploring I keep orbital lines turned off. For that reason, when I jump into a NS system the lensing around the star helps to spot it so I have an idea of its location and can quickly turn toward it to target and scan.

I've noticed this before as well. I explore with the oculus rift, and lensing is really noticeable in the rift, as the "lens" is at the same distance as the neutron star or black hole. Like looking at lights dancing off a bubble, the lens warped stars appear much closer than the background starfield.

Saying that, the first time I saw it, I thought I had been wearing the rift too long, and thought I was hallucinating.

Yeah, I kept an eye out for the lensing when jumping into a neutron system, just so I knew where to point the ship for the scan.
