Unbelievably beautiful shot commander, and I'm sooo jealous. I spent just over a month at AMOS doing a comm upgrade when I was in the USAF, and that time was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Oh wow!!! What a beautiful shot!!!! Repped!!!! :D

Can't imagine being up there!!! I want to go! ;););)

They say on the top it's bad weather no more than 14 days every year. I've been to Big Island 7 days and the tour was cancelled twice, 6 days of bad weather in a row... I looked at Mauna Kea forecast and spotted a night with 5% mist, started to look at every agency but nothing. Was thinking to rent a jeep and drive there myself, but was afraid of 0 - 4200 meters altitude in a single "jump". By fortune was recontacted by a tour operator in the morning of the good day and there were 2 seats left. So it felt more an achievement.

I was ready to write a topic: "7 nights at the bottom of Sag A* and didn't even see it", but the wheel turned for one time!

BTW for everyone interested, it seems that all the 14 days are in august, you have been warned.

Aloha!

We've never been to the big island, but you make it tempting. We're too in love with the little island of Kaua'i to take the trip. I'll have to go get some shots from the top Mount Waiʻaleʻale when I can get out for the next exploration run and share them, but for now, I've got a shot overlooking Princeville on a nice clear afternoon.

Ok, now we are offtopic, but cannot resist: Big Island Is Amazing!!!!! Not only Mauna Kea, that has also a controversity with the locals that must be respected, but also also Kila Uea and its lava flows, and the tropical gardens, and the green turtle encounters, and the martian landscape of all that lava solified everywhere. Go, go, go, go, go, go if you can!!! It is really that amazing.
