Exploration Data with the Ship

Not sure if anyone has tried this.

If I get back with a load of exploration data, change to another ship, and this gets destroyed, do I loose the data "stored" in the ship I used to explore?

Just a question. Might get bored of selling all that data, and what to do something else for a while

Afraid so, if you die any unsold exploration data is lost (along with any unclaimed bounties) whatever ship you are in at the time, irrespective of whether it's the ship you earned any of it in.

That's a bit inconsistent.

If the ship gets destroyed you loose the data. Ok the data was in the ships computer somewhere.

If I "die" but the ship is still in existence (data still in the ships computer), I must have the data with me for it to be lost.

I'm not proposing to test this, just a what if question.

The data is actually stored in a suppository that is uhm....."on your person".

Also...if you get loose, you'll lose the data

You can still sell the data if you change ships though - many people will keep an Explorer set up on an edge of the bubble and have a more combat worth ship to go and sell the data in if they're looking to sell in particular systems for permits/rep so you have to take it with you when you change ships to allow that.

It's a gamey thing rather than a sim thing, that's for sure.
