Oh, we have a few months without snow too. 
But little Norway has most medals ever in the history of winter olympics. One of our gold medalists today, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, is passed 40 years old(!) He has 12 medals now in 6 olympics, where 7 medals are of the finest metal.
The other gold medalist, Marit Bjørgen, is 33 yo. So the oldest are still best.
This is going to be a great olympic!

Great Britain appears to be joint 8th on the medals table. Not bad.

Another small "bomb" today, is the swedish woman who got silver. The silver is not the bomb, not that Charlotte Kalla got it either, the bomb is what she said about her training. She was invited to train with the norwegian women's team before the olympics, and now say she knows for the first time just how much ground training is needed to be the best. This is a woman who has been in the world top for years now ... and now she realize what she's been missing by training in Sweden.
Another ski athlete with a similar story is the scottish Andrew Musgrave. He's living in Norway, studying in Lillehammer I think, and training with the norwegian guys. He attended the norwegian ski championship as the only foreigner a few weeks ago and won the sprint! He couldn't get the royal trophy for this, because he's not a norwegian citizen, but he showed the world he's one of the best. He said afterwards - in norwegian - that the norwegian championship was second only to the world championship (and olympics) because of the high level competitors.
So look out for Andrew Musgrave, guys. He's a comet that comeths.
Figure skating is pretty much the only event I usually try to catch - and even then only the more artistic sub-events - although I've been too busy to even do that in recent years.
I caught one performance this year thus far and was dismayed by the commentators speaking during the performance, completely ruining the mood...
Not me. I'm taping every event I want to watch on beforehand, and ignore the rest. There are two reasons why I tape them: a) to watch them when it suits me, and b) to be able to fast forward past the commercials.
BTW, today we got two gold and two silver! Now we lead the olympics again.
I'll be watching the skeleton at weekend, it tends to be the brit's best event, and men's competitor Kristan Bromley used to work at our place years ago.

Yep, this was years ago, I think he still builds his own (and his girlfriend Shelley Rudman's) but I'd be very surprised if still uses the ones he had back then, it's a long time since he worked at our place
He's immensely clever, he had different runners made to his calculations for different ice temperatures.
It's the women who always seem to do best though, Lizzy Yarnold is currently leading.

Don't say that, Kjetil Jansrud won the Super-G today. You guys seem to have that one booked, 4 Olympics in a row now! So congrats to that!Yes, indeed. Congrats to Sweden, a fantastic race today!
For us this is the worst olympics in man's memory.
By the way, my money is on Northug in the 50 km classical. It's a mass start, I think, should suit him. I like that guy.
Thanks! Yes, we took one gold today. I meant the cross country fiasko ... it's depressing. Personally, I think Dario Cologna from Switzerland will win the 50 km and russian Legkow on 2nd or 3rd.
Our guys need to find the right ski wax setup first. So far it doesn't look good. The waxers have no idea what they do wrong ... If they do find out how to do it, we'll take at least one medal on the 50km, I think, but I doubt very much they'll crack the code before this olympics is over.
In the mean time I'm suddenly very interested in speed skating for women! If you search for images of Tatiana Borodulina on Google you'll see why.

Yes, about those Norwegian waxers, they should know what they're doing. They can do it in their sleep in any conditions. It's weird but I agree, it was clearly visible they didn't have as good skis as our boys. Even so, the French seemed to have the best today though.
