Unfortunately I still cannot get into my beta with the Lifetime Expansion pass. I can see and download it just fine. Tried everything I can think of. Removed and reinstalled the entire game. Validated my steam game integrity, validated my game from the launcher, logged out of machine from launcher and relogged with new emailed verification code. Still get the same errors:

Login failure - game failed to connect with the authentication server. please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes
Next screen: Login Lost: We have logged you out of Elite Dangerous because your account is not currently available. Please try again shortly.

When I verify game integrity from the launcher, it does sync files but then when I launch the game, it crashes to windows 10 desktop at the shader cache screen.

Anyone else having problems getting 1.4 to even launch? How did you fix it?

Same problem no fix, sent a ticket. Waiting.

Anyone who backed at Standard Beta, Premium Beta, Alpha or already has a Lifetime Expansion Pass should have access.

If you don't fit into any of those categories then purchasing a Lifetime Expansion Pass is the only way to get access to the remaining betas of Season 1.

That makes sense, wish they would have noted this on the change notes, would have saved some aggravation. Although I'm not so sure about holding back bug fixes like this, that kinda sucks.

So, in a few days or more 1.4 generally releases, probably with the XB1 retail release, also makes sense.

I want to buy Horizons I'm just not so sure I want to add it to my PC version because it's on a HP ProBook. It runs okay but definately wasn't designed to run ED so I was wanting to move this PC version to my gamer PC which needs a major upgrade.. oh the conundrum :)

Added a cooldown period to the shield cell ability in CQC?

Hey guys,

Please find the change log for the 1.4 CQC Beta build. The update will be going live shortly.

- Added a cooldown period to the shield cell ability in CQC. This should balance it's use to be much fairer, especially in CTF

What's the cooldown period?

(and maybe this could be ported back to the main game, as well as requiring SCB to remain powered to remain charged)? :)

The 1.4 update looks very, very good from what I've read in the reports. I'm not in the beta program, so I'll have to wait for the release, but I'm really looking forward to trying it :) Congratulations FDev's on a big job well done

-Wars between non-controlling factions are allowed and will co-incide with scenarios generated by the controlling minor's state

Umm...so if a non-controlling faction goes above 70%, but the controlling faction is in a state such as 'boom', 'lockdown', etc, then no civil war happens?

I thought the fix was that civil wars states would override other states.

How are you interpreting that? Co-incide means "happen at the same time" not...whatever you seem to think it means.

Probably neither. Xbox and PC users will not share instances because of Microsoft stuff. So there is no need for FD to strive to get them on exactly the same code base. The PC beta test is on a copy of the live PC galaxy from a little while ago. So definitely not the same galaxy as the XBox folks. Given how short the beta is likely to be, there is probably no great need to put them on the same beta galaxy.

This is only half correct. FD have stated that although XBox and PC users will not be able to share the same instance and fly together, they will share the same background simulation and Galaxy state. This needs to be tested I would think, and I expect this to be tested in the very near future.

In fact, they have never categorically denied that Xbox and PC users would be able to fly in the same instance. The quote from David Braben was that this would be desirable but might not be possible, at least not at first. So they have not ruled it out as an option for the future.

Thinking about this, what I expect is that Xbox users will be joined onto the PC Galaxy as PC users commanders cannot be wiped in any way. Based on this what I expect is that we will get a new Xbox build shortly which also integrates Xbox users into the PC beta background sim.

looking forward to the public release.
two questions:
- are the info-popups of celestial bodies still blocking other celestial bodies on the system map?
- not directly related to 1.4, but maybe I'm the only one who noticed, maybe it's supposed to be like that: when you enter a hangar and the second landing pad above you slides in place to close the hangar, it does so without any support. as if it is floating. bug? intended behavior?

Remark

Hey FD--I think you SHOULD allow NPCs to interdict during hyperspace chargeup--and have them get pulled through with the player! I saw a thread once about this happening as a bug--since you've apparently fixed it, I guess it WAS a bug--but it would make a GREAT feature!

I noted that too. I think that when you are charging up for a hyperspace jump while supercruising anyone should be able to interdict you.

Of course if the 4 seconds countdown has begun, then nobody should be able to interdict you.

It's the way I would enjoy my gameplay the most.

Ok, so not read all 22 pages, so i apologise if this has be answered already, but:
"Speculative fix for some stuttering in supercruise seen on Win10 machines with AMD graphics cards"
Is this a possible fix for the low FPS in SC the latest AMD graphics driver in Windows 10 was causing.
As posted here in the bugs report thread.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=170946

Reports have indicated that it hasn't fixed the issue - it's a driver problem that we tried a speculative work around with.

Interesting.
Alot of XBox and CQC stuff, as expected I guess.
Just one question:
No Federal/Empire rank progression bars?
I would assume that the 3 new ships require some sort of rank in the Federation or Empire to buy them. And it would be really appreciated if we could see our progress in trying to achieve the desired rank to purchase these ships.

You can have conflicts between non-controlling factions, but they don't affect system ownership. This change means that appropriate scenarios are created for all conflicts, not just the controlling ones.

Don't want to sound like a troll but the download speed bar sometimes shows an impossible speed: >2 MB/sec where 1MB/sec is definitely max on my connection. If it would be all the time it would be pure voodoo. Anyway, I don't complain as downloads are always very good for me.

I posted about this too, I had 8MB where 1.2MB would be the absolute maximum attainable.
I too thought voodoo at first, but maybe data compression is a more likely cause than voodoo.
